Check out our customer interview with Elizabeth Morrin at Children in Hospital 💜 With more than 300 volunteers across 14 hospitals nationwide, CIH Ireland facilitates play and recreation opportunities, thereby easing the experience of hospitalisation for children and their families. Elizabeth and the team did their absolute best with what they had available to them before Volunteero but found challenges around measuring impact, scheduling volunteers, tracking attendance and communication. Wonderful having 40 engaged voluntary sector professionals in the room yesterday for our in person lunch and learn. Tips for your befriending volunteers 💜 We learned that many befrienders find it a challenge to keep their relationships engaging. After all the person you may be befriending may not be very confident, they may be shy and they may not have much they want to talk about or just be wary about opening up. We decided to write a blog which offered great tips we learned from volunteers and charities on how volunteers can improve those relationships (both in-person and over the phone) Feel free to share this with your volunteers, the link is in the comments. Build trust through thoughtful questions and active listening. Embrace technology to share photos, music, or memories. Engage in activities like board games, puzzles, or cooking. Balance conversations with shared experiences. Be adaptable and responsive to the individual’s unique needs.
