  • The Charity Digital Skills Report Survey has now opened for responses in 2025. This is a chance to have your say and share your insights on digital adoption, funding, and support needs for charities. Zoe Amar FCIM and Nissa R. alongside Catalyst Network and partners, are gathering data to advocate for resources, especially from groups led by marginalised communities. The survey is a powerful tool for change, influencing funding and support for charities to move forward with digital. If you are a registered charity, your organisation could also win one of five prizes of unrestricted funding of £300. All you need to do is complete the survey and opt-in to the prize draw at the end. The survey closes at 9am on 28th April. Take part in the survey here: https://lnkd.in/gfBBuNsK #VCSE #DigitalSkills

  • The latest wave of the VCSE Barometer Survey, conducted by the VCSE Observatory, has been analysed and a new report published. Wave 9 saw organisations surveyed on their financial outlook and, in particular, the impact of upcoming rises in National Living Wage and Employer National Insurance Contributions. Nearly half of the 665 organisations that gave their views say that rises in ERNICs (54%) and the NLW (47%) will negatively impact their financial position, rising substantially for organisations with a paid workforce. One large charity reported “We face a triple impact of rising costs, rising demand and additional pressures; none of which are supported by existing funders” Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eZMB58AP #VCSE #VoluntarySector

Data and insights to inform decision-making for, by, and about the UK Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise sector.

🚨 New Report Alert: Paying the Price – VCSE Barometer Wave 9 🚨 The latest VCSE Barometer Report is here, and it reveals the tough financial decisions voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations are facing in an increasingly uncertain landscape. 📊 Key findings include: 🔹 The impact of rising Employer National Insurance Contributions (ERNICs) and the National Living Wage (NLW) on the sector. 🔹 Half of large VCSE organisations expect to make significant changes to staffing, overheads, and service delivery. 🔹 A growing reliance on volunteers as organisations seek to cut costs. 🔹 Rising costs, surging demand, and a shrinking pool of funding sources are putting unprecedented pressure on sustainability. 💡 We know this is a challenging time for many in the sector. The Barometer continues to evolve, and we invite you to explore our findings and share your feedback. 📖 Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eykKcqGb 🌐 Learn more about the VCSE Barometer: https://lnkd.in/e6Eatt2h #VCSEBarometer #PayingThePrice #VoluntarySector #Charity #SocialImpact #FundingChallenges #CommunityOrganisations #Research #VCSEObservatory

  • 🤝 Sunderland Health Champions are committed to self-development and supporting the community In Spring 2024, five organisations across the North East and North Cumbria were awarded a grant as part of the Health Champions Development Fund, provided by the North East and North Cumbria NHS Integrated Care Board and administered by VONNE, aiming to support partnerships between Local Authority Health Champion programmes and VCSE sector organisations working with underserved communities. One of these organisations is the International Community Organisation of Sunderland (ICOS), who have been working with Sunderland City Council to expand the area’s network of Health Champions, aiming to recruit more women and those from ethnically minoritised communities. Two of these champions are Gosia and Kasia, who saw the opportunity to both develop their own knowledge and skills, and to benefit the people they support through their volunteer work with ICOS. Both having previous experience and interests in health, social care and wellbeing, the scheme offered them a perfect opportunity to expand the support they give, by being a source and trusted provider of reliable health information and messages for their community. Gosia and Kasia explain more about their Health Champion roles and what involvement in the project has brought to them, and the people they support in Sunderland, in the linked newly published case studies: https://lnkd.in/evffGkHP.

  • A big thank you to everyone who attended our Member Engagement Roundtable this morning - it was a really productive session and great to hear your views on VONNE's future engagement across the region. As we approach a new financial year, VONNE is embracing change to strengthen our work for the North East VCSE sector. Our mission remains clear - support, promote, and advocate for the sector so that it is better understood, appreciated, and supported – but we know we could do more to be closer to our members and more visible across the region, and we'd love to hear your thoughts on how we can do this. If you were unable to attend the session this morning, there's still time to share your feedback via our quick online form before our survey closes on Monday 10th March. • Exploring trauma informed practice: what is it and why does it matter? In this blog, members of the North East and North Cumbria VCSE People Facing Multiple Disadvantage Network have come together to share what they mean by trauma and trauma informed practice, why it matters and what the group are doing to move forward with this issue. This network was established as part of the VCSE Partnership Programme, hosted by VONNE, and is formed of VCSE organisations across our region specialising in supporting people facing multiple disadvantage. The group brings professionals together to discuss and influence health and care structures, strategy and policy for people who are often considered to be excluded from mainstream society. With thanks to Tyne Housing, 2 Way Tenancy Solutions CIC, Recovery College Collective - Newcastle, The Meadows and Waythrough for their insights.

  • There's still time to join our online roundtable discussion on Wednesday 5th March and share your thoughts on VONNE’s future engagement strategy. We’re in the early stages of developing a new strategy which will include greater emphasis on policy, membership and engagement. We’d love to know your thoughts, and how you would like VONNE to better engage with our members and the wider VCSE sector across the region.
