WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT ❗ In 2024, 345,000 people in the UK were experiencing homelessness, a staggering 20% increase from the previous year. With this, we're seeing a significant increase in demand for their frontline homelessness services, including seeing a huge increase in people experiencing homelessness for the first time. For the next 7 weeks, British Airways will be matching the funds we raise to the value of £250 per donation to continue tackling homelessness. We need to get the support of at least 25 individual donors. With your help, we can support the increasing numbers of people across the country facing homelessness and change lives, for good. The ASE Partnership has long called for the introduction of a statutory definition of adult sexual exploitation ❗ As outlined in our report Changing the Narrative, adult sexual exploitation, and the survivors of ASE are widely misunderstood. From the misconceptions and false narratives placed onto people experiencing adult sexual exploitation, comes structural failings to support those who are the most vulnerable. Once we understand the true reality of these people’s lives, we can see the foundations that need to be put in place to adequately support survivors. Our proposed statutory definition would not create a new offence or redefine consensual sex work as sexual exploitation. It would create a consistent understanding of ASE, allowing for exploitation to be recognised and acted upon at an early stage. A standardised definition will also help to ease the transition between child and adult services and prevent young people in the age of transition from experiencing victim blaming as soon as they reach legal adulthood. At Changing Lives, we’re deeply concerned about the growing use of online platforms for sexual exploitation, but we’re also troubled by proposed solutions which could be extremely damaging to both sex workers and people subject to exploitation and trafficking. We believe banning adult service websites would only push exploitation underground, making it harder to help those at risk. Instead, we’re calling for: 1️⃣ Expanding our Netreach model to appropriately respond to online exploitation while distinguishing this from sex work 2️⃣ Holding website providers accountable for user safety. 3️⃣ Addressing root causes like housing, welfare, and mental health. We’re committed to fighting online exploitation and empowering those who need our help. The Newcastle Women's Recovery Space marked #InternationalWomensDay with a celebration of women ✊ Changing Lives Women’s services teams including GAP, Health & Recovery, Criminal Justice and our IDVAs - came together for a lovely collaborative morning 🤝 In the morning there was table full of crafts for women to choose from – wooden heart magnets, heart origami, colouring books and a decorating mini challenge ✂️ 🖍️ This project was a reflection of the women that have experienced life in custody and gave a chance for women who attend their probation appointments to access further information for support around their needs. We were also joined by Donna Stokes Curriculum Lead (Literacy and Arts) from Newcastle City Learning who delivered a creative poetry and word-exploration project with wider aims to provide a space for women to develop literacy skills, with an underpinning of arts and creativity using tactile resources 💜 If you want to support our work you can donate here ➡️ https://bit.ly/4dfxbcl #accelerateaction #iwd2025 #internationalwomensday2025
