Trusted World Leaders in Voltage Stabilisation and Power Conditioners Since 1947

About us

True World Leadership In Voltage Control and Voltage Optimisation World status is all too easy to claim but Watford Control can offer solid proof. Established in 1947 with the aim of tackling the post-war mains supply problems of the period, which became even more acute with the introduction of sophisticated mains powered equipment. Ever since then Watford Control has specialised in AC Voltage Stabilisation and Power Conditioning, solving mains supply problems Worldwide. All mains powered equipment requires a supply, which is maintained within certain limits; a low supply voltage causes malfunction, whilst a high supply voltage will cause serious damage. Microprocessor based systems and other sensitive equipment requires not only a stable voltage but also a supply free of transient spikes and electrical noise. In many developing economies, power demand is outstripping supply capacity giving rise to large voltage swings, surges and brownouts in the national supply. To meet the growing needs Watford Control engineers and management have constantly advanced the performance of our AC Voltage Stabilisers and Power Conditioners keeping abreast of the latest developments in control voltage technology. Through all these years the company has continued to lead the way with faster response, smoother surge-free operation and complete reliability. We developed all the design features built into today’s products, many covered by patents unique to Watford Control. These include the EM / EMS turbo range, BE solid-state stabilisers and the Powersaver range of energy saving Voltage Optimisers.

  • How We Assess the Lifecycle of a Voltage Optimiser 🌍 💡 At Watford Control, we’re dedicated to ensuring our voltage optimisers not only improve energy efficiency but also have a minimal environmental impact throughout their lifecycle. While we don’t perform detailed Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) on each product, we have a clear understanding of the environmental considerations from production to end-of-life. Here’s how we assess the lifecycle of our voltage optimisers: 1. Energy Savings and Carbon Neutrality 👏 Our voltage optimisers can reduce energy consumption by 7-8%, helping businesses lower their electricity use and carbon footprint. For a typical industrial site consuming 1 million kWh annually, this translates into approximately 15-16 tonnes of CO2e saved each year, potentially reaching carbon neutrality in just 1.5 to 3 years. 2. Manufacturing Carbon Footprint 🌍 Our voltage optimisers are constructed using high-quality, recyclable materials such as steel, copper, and aluminium. These materials have a combined embedded carbon footprint of about 25.8 tonnes of CO2e per unit, factoring in the environmental impact of raw material extraction and processing. 3. Transportation and Packaging 🚛 Once manufactured, our voltage optimisers are shipped in recycled containers, minimizing packaging waste. Transport emissions from our facility to installation sites typically amount to around 449kg of CO2e for a journey of 561 miles, based on HGV emissions of 800g per mile. 4. End-of-Life Recycling ♻️ Designed for long-lasting use, with a lifespan of up to 40 years, our voltage optimisers are fully recyclable at the end of their life. This ensures minimal waste and a reduced environmental footprint, as the steel, copper, and aluminum components can be reprocessed. 5. CO2 Reduction Over the Product Lifecycle ↙️ Our voltage optimisers don’t emit CO2 during operation. Instead, they actively contribute to carbon reduction by lowering energy consumption. This makes them a key tool in helping businesses achieve sustainability goals while reducing their operational carbon footprint. 6. Commitment to Decarbonisation 🤞 As part of our ISO14001 certification, we are continuously improving our processes to reduce emissions and enhance sustainability throughout the lifecycle of our products. By prioritizing energy efficiency and recyclability, we’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint alongside that of our customers. 7. No Packaging Waste 🚫 Our voltage optimisers are shipped without the need for packaging materials, further reducing waste and contributing to a greener supply chain. 😃 Watford Control's voltage optimisers are designed to cut energy use, reduce emissions, and support sustainable operations. By focusing on recyclable materials and energy savings, we help businesses lower their carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future. #sustainibility #Optimiseyourenergy #voltageoptimisers #voltage #B2B #green

  • Major leading restaurant chain drive up their revenue and profits! 😀 One of the UK’s leading restaurant chains has piloted a Watford Control automatic voltage regulator at a key site, after power quality and power capacity issues caused a significant loss of revenue. High levels of phase imbalance along with limited incoming power capacity caused such problems at the London site, that the restaurant had to restrict its Deliveroo volumes due to lack of power capacity to keep the prepared food hot. Not only did they have to cut back on Deliveroo food volumes (c£5,000 per week), but also, high currents being drawn on the lowest voltage phase, caused the mains fuse to blow twice and the DNO required to replace it. Despite ensuring that all loads were distributed evenly, the client contacted Watford Control to see if we could help.  Having carried out a power quality survey, the client identified that the phase voltages were wildly different, and Amps capacity was over maximum on L1. Watford Control installed a 90kVA +/-15% AVR to stabilise the incoming voltages and balance the phases, along with optimising the power for energy reduction and therefore savings. To give up to the minute power analysis, we installed our PowerMap™ online system, which enabled us to monitor all power values, including Amps drawn per phase and record it. The results were impressive, the site has now settled down and reduced energy consumption by over 10%. We identified where some loads could be shifted from one phase to another to increase overall capacity and continue to monitor the site daily. The AVR has been in over a month now and the site is back up to full speed, using less energy than before and fully serving all its customers, the client is delighted. #ukvoltage #voltage #voltagestabiliser #B2B #voltageissues #voltageregulator

  • 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 (𝗻𝗼 𝘄𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗱!)…😅 Like many businesses, attracting customers to our door is usually through our website via Google AdWords, but with a 1% click through rate - is that really value for money? Last year, we spent mid double-digit tens of thousands on ads, and if we want more leads, the answer always is – spend more money! There is a saying, that “the first sign of madness is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different outcome” and therefore on the basis that we’re not mad (although you’d think we were by the money we are spending), we’ve decided to invest in Lead Forensics software and try to look at things differently. No doubt many will say that you just need to pay for SEO and you’ll come up first page every time, but that’s not our question, we are #1 in many countries organically, our question is, how can 4,800 people each month, from around Africa, the Middle East and UK, search for “automatic voltage stabilis(z)er” (with or without z/s) or “automatic voltage regulator” and land on our website but never engage with us? We just don’t know who, where or what people are looking for, but an AC voltage stabiliser is a pretty narrow product, so why do only 1% of visitors become a quotation? Do they hate our website when they land on it, do they throw their mouse or phone down and scream “not that voltage stabiliser!!” – there has to be a reason or are we all in the 1% club? To this end we have invested in Lead Forensics software which captures a lot of interesting information, including the search term people found us through, what page and how long they stayed on our site, and (mostly) a list of decision makers by reverse looking up their IP address. We then have the ability to find out who the key decision makers are and then deliver an email marketing plan or equally, an InMail through LinkedIn. UK and European businesses are well served, the Middle East is better, and Africa somewhat hit and miss. Unfortunately, mobile browsing, which is very popular everywhere, does not tell us who looked us up. Obviously, this is like Google Analytics on steroids, and of course costs us money, but the truth is, frankly, we can’t keep spending £40,000 annually for not great results, so is it us or is it them – hopefully we’ll find out soon! #websitetraffic #google #websitemonitoring #leads #marketing #power #B2B #electricalmanufacturing #UK #UKbusiness
