Through a joint technology development program with Petrobras, we are developing the definitive solution to one of the most important issues facing offshore production in Brazil—stress corrosion cracking due to CO2. This initiative aims to deliver next-generation flexible pipes with a 30-year lifespan in the high CO2 environments common in Brazil’s pre-salt fields. Spearheaded at our Rio de Janeiro Energy Technology Innovation Center, this collaborative effort will help Petrobras optimize production while supporting their commitment to reduce atmospheric emissions by reinjecting CO2 from their operations deep below the ocean floor. Last week, we had the privilege of hosting Boon Khai Tan, CEO of JTC Corporation, Jacqueline Poh, CEO Designate, and Christine Wong, Assistant CEO, along with fellow Singapore government representatives from the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), at our headquarters in Houston, Texas – led by our CGXO Maria Claudia Borras. During their visit to our Centre of Technology Innovation, Additive Manufacturing Center, Flexible Pipe Systems facility, and Mosaic Direct Air Capture technology pilot, our discussions focused on the critical role of industry-government collaboration in implementing energy transition strategies such as cross-border Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) to support the decarbonization efforts of energy and chemical companies in Singapore. Since Baker Hughes’ first establishment in Singapore more than 55 years, we have expanded to 4 facilities nationwide. We are excited to continue cooperating with the Singapore government in decarbonization development and advanced manufacturing as we look to build a more efficient and sustainable future together.
