Supported Housing Project Manager - Dedicated to Transforming Lives Through Housing, Support and Social Value
I’m excited to share that I have started a new role as a Supported Housing Project Manager at the new Hwb Hillgrove with Digartref Cyf in Bangor, North Wales. Hwb Hillgrove is the new specialist regional learning into work supported housing provision for young people living in Gwynedd, Ynys Mon, and Conwy. An innovative private sector / charity partnership between Digartref Cyf and @Watkinpv within the former Hillgrove school in upper Bangor. This opportunity allows me to bring together my experience of working with vulnerable people and my passion for social value, to help deliver a meaningful impact for the local communities in north west Wales. My career began in childcare, managing four private nursery schools and a children’s play centre in Scotland, where I also earned my D32 and D33 NVQ Assessor’s Award in Childcare and Education. After relocating to Wales and completing my BA (Hons) in Health and Social Care, I transitioned into supported housing, working in an eight-bed homeless hostel for vulnerable young persons. I then joined the Criminal Justice Intervention Team, initially as a Project Worker on the Drug Intervention Programme before progressing to Team Manager. In this role, I coordinated and monitored criminal justice provision, supporting individuals with substance misuse issues and ensuring access to wraparound services for sustainable recovery. Most recently, I have been fortunate to spend almost five years with Cartrefi Conwy Creating Enterprise, an organisation that embeds social value and the needs of their tenants at their core. As part of this role I worked with our stakeholders to create social value for our tenants and the communities they lived in and measure the impact it had across the organisation. With thanks to Sharon Jones I also had the privilege of leading a team delivering employment, digital inclusion, volunteering, and poverty reduction initiatives as part of the Social Impact Strategy. This included overseeing the Employment Academy, running the Second Chance Furniture project, and developing and delivering training programs to enhance opportunities for tenants. The experience I gained has been invaluable, and I look forward to applying my skills at Hillgrove to ensure the delivery of a successful and impactful project. We are still currently recruiting the rest of the 24/7 support team for Hwb Hillgrove, which will be opening for referrals over the coming months. My training and employment experience will be pivotal in co-ordinating and delivering the training into work and social enterprise activities which we aim to introduce at Hwb Hillgrove. In the meantime, please feel free to email or personal message me if you would like to learn more about the project and how to refer young people in need to it. I would love to talk to other local charity providers and agencies about how Hwb Hillgrove can complement existing core provisions and social enterprises.
