Partner Dr. Dirk Janssen and Associate Julian Kasper discuss in Börsen-Zeitung the opportunities infrastructure presents for private equity investors – and how private capital can play a key role in accelerating its expansion. Three key takeaways: • the capital required for infrastructure is immense – the German government's planned special fund is a step in the right direction but will not be sufficient on its own; • infrastructure offers attractive conditions for private equity: stable cash flows, long-term visibility and a growing market volume; and • public-private partnerships (PPP) remain essential to combine public and private financing efficiently – but clear legal structures and reliable regulatory frameworks are needed. 🏆 We are extremely pleased that the Simandou project, the world’s largest mining and related rail and port infrastructure project, has been named Impact Deal of the Year at the IFLR Africa Awards 2025! Last night, Dubai Projects Partner Alhassane Briegel Barry and Mining Lead Jan Mellmann picked up the award at the IFLR Africa Awards in Cape Town. The Impact Deal of the Year is selected by IFLR’s research and editorial panel for its importance to the global infrastructure sector. Twenty-four lawyers from across our international network, including Dubai, London, New York and Paris, advised on a wide range of legal matters key to the project, leveraging our wealth of expertise across the mining, energy, infrastructure and transport spaces in emerging markets. 🚀 We were delighted to take part in Time to Change 2025, two days of debates and networking with over 500 key players in the energy transition and sustainable finance industry. Laurence Martinez-Bellet joined a panel discussion about the financing of decarbonisation across sectors with Jeanne Lemoine (Groupe Lemoine and Club ETI Normandie), Arnaud SUSPLUGAS (Kyotherm) and Aurélie Picart (Nouveaux Systèmes Energétiques, Comité Stratégique de Filière). Laurent Battoue spoke at a roundtable about the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuels alongside Emmanuel Legrand (Banque des Territoires) and Benoit Decourt (Elyse Energy). Romain Girtanner and Thomas Rabain also attended this event. It has been a fantastic opportunity to discuss more broadly the energy mix for 2035/2040, decarbonisation tools, financing the energy transition, greening infrastructure, innovation, agrivoltaism, the circular economy, the impact of ESG strategies and new business models. Thank you to the organisers GreenUnivers and Option Finance. #WFW #TimeToChange25 #EnergyTransition #SustainableFinance
