With the 2024 Paralympics coming to an end this Sunday, WEP Clinical would like to recognize the tremendous efforts of all the athletes, many of whom are competing with a rare disease, having overcome a rare disease, or in support of a rare disease community. At WEP, we are committed to being With Every Patient, and we strive to help facilitate drug development and treatment access programs for rare disease patients around the world. But the work we do would not be possible without patients themselves fighting for further research and medical advancements, demanding awareness at all levels, and refusing to give up despite their disease. A massive congratulations to all the rare disease patients and advocates competing in the Paralympics! Together we will continue to advance life-saving treatments and get them to patients worldwide. #Paralympics #WithEveryPatient #WEPWorks #Patients #TreatmentAccess #ExpandedAccess

The one thing I miss most about working for the NHS is the 1:1 time I got to spend directly with patients. Some of my favourite years were when I worked on an Elderly Care hospital ward and also during my time as a Non-Medical Prescriber for a memory clinic in the community. I would often start my working day earlier so I could spend some extra time talking about anything the patients wanted. I used my Volunteer Day strategically this year and assisted the Just-Be CICs ‘Moments4Seniors’ seaside trip last Friday, which involved taking a luxury coach full of seniors to Brighton and hanging out with them for the day. I had the pleasure of being paired with 72 year old Jenny and 91 year old Pearl. And let me tell you, I think I enjoyed the day more than them! Both Jenny & Pearl sadly have Alzheimer’s Disease, but despite all of the complexities this terrible disease presents to them, they do not succumb to much of it! We managed 11,748 steps in total that day! Yes that’s correct, 91 year old Pearl is very much still able to walk and often told us to keep up when we slowed down (thinking she needed a break)! It was a truly beautiful day and I left feeling so humbled by the fragility of life. Being so far removed from front line care in my current role, it can be easy to forget that each individual patient is someone very special, who is incredibly loved, carrying the burden of their disease/illness on a daily basis. Thank you to WEP Clinical for allowing us space to give back to our communities in this way. And thank you to Pearl & Jenny, for reminding me that my current role is no less important than any of my previous. My goal remains the same… to improve patient care & outcomes by facilitating access to life saving medications. With so much going on, I had time yesterday evening to reflect on how great my team at WEP Clinical is. You don't really think about all of the moving parts and SMEs (whether they have a fancy title or not) that need to come together to ensure a client's key milestone dates are met. 💵 Without the help of Sales Ops, how would any of my budgets or RFP responses get done on time? 🏥 Without Med Affairs and Regulatory, how would I be able to put together comprehensive plans for each country in scope? 🤝 Without Project Management, how would we be able to show how we proactively manage the process from beginning to end to ensure everything runs as smooth as possible - from site setup to closeout and beyond? 📦 Without Supply Chain and Logistics, how would we be able to show clients that we are strategically placed across the globe to get product to patients WHEN they need it? Just so thankful and grateful for them all. I've asked so much of them all when it comes to deliverables on multiple projects. They come through every time - showing our clients when they sign on the dotted line, they're getting a TEAM. #teamwork #gratitude #problemsolving #patientcenteredcare

August is SMA Awareness Month! Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a rare disease that can take away a persons physical strength and their ability to walk, swallow, and breathe. SMA impacts thousands of people every year, but awareness among the general public is limited. This month, help WEP Clinical and Cure SMA increase awareness by sharing these factoids.
