As professionals, we often strive for perfection, but that mindset can sometimes hold us back. Striving for growth—not perfection—drives innovation and long-term success. Remember that mistakes aren't failures; they're learning opportunities. Every challenge is a chance to grow and become better at what we do. ❤️ #WellbeingWednesday #WeAreRS

This month more than 450 of our colleagues from around the world have united to embody our values - One Team, Delivering Brilliantly, Doing the Right Thing, Making Every Day Better - all while raising funds for our global charity partner, The Washing Machine Project. From Australia, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, South Africa, the Americas, France, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and Denmark, our teams donned running shoes, lifted weights, and committed to the RS Active for Change Challenge! Together they have covered a combined distance of over 42,000km so far. Clare Underwood, our Chief of Corporate Services, who launched the initiative with an impressive goal of achieving a 100kg deadlift and back squat, told us: “I have been truly inspired by the level of activity across the challenge. A big thank you to all of you who have taken part and raised funds for TWMP. “I have continued to progress on my strength challenge –100KG remains in sight! Not only that, but I have been motivated by the challenge to get out walking, hiking and running. Baxter, my cocker spaniel has been delighted by this!” The Active for Change Challenge has so far raised £1,600. If you would like to support The Washing Machine Project to help change the world, by alleviating unpaid labour, you can donate on our Just Giving page at: https://lnkd.in/e2ShbGE8 #ActiveForChange #TWMP #WeAreRS

Eneni Abban is a Robotics Engineer at theTechover Foundation. We are extremely proud to have included her in our REflect Top 24 Role Models for 2024 list. It was great to chat with Eneni about her career evolution and gather her advice for aspiring professionals. Q1. What is your greatest achievement in your career? "Fundraising for and running my first ever coding and robotics workshop through my NGO, The Techover Foundation, for young girls affected by Boko Haram in rural Nigeria. We raised over 3,000,000 Naira to aid the girls with attending school, taught over 50 girls from 2 local government schools and were sponsored by one of the leading robotics organisations in the world - Arduino. Seeing the girls light up and take interest in how STEM can be a conduit to change their lives whilst successfully making robots out of cardboard boxes was truly an indescribable feeling and reinforced exactly why I fight for representation in STEM. Q2. Who or what inspires you in your work? “I guess…myself. I find inspiration in my life’s journey. Reflecting on the challenges I've overcome, which once seemed insurmountable, really motivates me to keep pushing forward and believe in myself especially during tough times. Nowadays I try to see each obstacle as an opportunity for growth and impact. As an engineer, my primary goal is to create solutions for everyday problems, especially those impacting marginalised communities. Q3. Please provide one piece of advice for future global ethnic-majority engineers. “Don't let imposter syndrome win! It's more common than you realise and many successful people experience it. Even your favourite most seemingly confident celebrity has their moments too - it's normal, we’re all human! Acknowledging it is the first step to overcoming it. Challenge your self-doubt by reframing negative thoughts. Replace "I don't belong here" with "I am learning and growing." Going forward, set realistic goals for yourself (documenting your STEM journey and projects along the way), and view challenges as opportunities to learn. The Top 24 for 2024 list was produced in partnership with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and Association for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers (AFBE-UK).

As we close out #BlackHistoryMonth in the UK, we spoke to Peter Malpas, our EMEA President to find out why he has become the new ExCo sponsor of our EmbRACE Employee Resource Group. He said: "I am delighted to be the new sponsor of the EmbRACE ERG. I'm aware that I am in a position of privilege and am keen to learn, listen and support. "We all know that growth and comfort doesn't co-exist, so we must lean into the uncomfortable conversations in a safe space, so that we can all learn and grow. I'm taking this opportunity to encourage you to engage with EmbRACE and give yourself the tools to be able to participate in conversations by listening and asking questions so that we can all become more aware of what it means to be part of an ethnically diverse, minoritized group. "I will be personally taking this opportunity to grow and I will pay it forward across my teams and with my peers. Because at RS D&I is not just a tick box exercise. I can honestly tell you this from the conversations that are happening around the ExCo table, where everybody is committed to creating a genuinely inclusive workplace that understands and celebrates our colleagues across the business. "We all need to be accountable for building a diverse and inclusive global organisation. I'm excited to see what lies ahead and I look forward to working with Menaka S., Teimur Aziz, Alex R. and the EmbRACE community." #BHM2024 #WeAreRS #EmbRACE

Thank you to all our employees for their time, energy, and generosity. Seeing what we can achieve when we come together as one team is inspiring! Last month Jude Pullen took to the stage at the Engineering Design Show (EDS) to discuss his RS DesignSpark project around Fight To Repair, where he explored the future of repairability in electronics. With standing room only at his talk, Jude was joined by an audience of industry professionals, journalists and manufacturers to debate the topic. Jude told us: "This was not a crowd who tolerates naïve optimism, but appreciates tangible, actionable strategies. They are 'at the front line' of both caring about sustainability, but also grappling with the tricky implementation." For those who missed Jude’s talk, there were three key takeaways for design engineers to consider: 🔩 "Screws, not glues" is a solid rule of thumb. ✅ The business model must support and incentivise the right behaviour. Repairing needs to make commercial sense, not just ethical sense. 🤝 Start at the end by visit an e-waste processing facility with your team. #WeAreRS #FightToRepair #RSDesignspark #Sustainability

At the recent GraphQL Summit in New York City, our Engineering Manager Daniel Westall took to the stage to participate in a panel discussion alongside Samana Shrestha from Wayfair, Braeden Sebastian from Zillow and Chandrika Srinivasan from Apollo GraphQL to discuss their success stories. Dan told us: "It was a great discussion alongside my peers from Wayfair and Zillow. There were so many interesting takeaways for those still planning their router transition or those who are still mid-migration." #GraphQLSumnmit #WeAreRS

This October, colleagues from around the globe took on the RS Active for Change Challenge powered by GoJoe, and the results have been fantastic! 💪 Not only did our colleagues log some serious activity to climb the leaderboard, but they also raised funds for our social impact partners, The Washing Machine Project. 🙌 This wasn’t just about friendly competition (though who doesn’t love a little rivalry?)—it was about teamwork, supporting each other, and building healthier habits along the way. Every mile, step, and rep brought us closer as #OneTeam while improving physical and mental well-being. ❤️ #WeAreRS #ActiveForChange #OurPeople #MakingAmazingHappen #EveryDayBetter #TWMP

Kate Hurl expressed her sentiment that it was a "huge privilege" to spend one of her volunteering days this month alongside her RS UK & Ireland colleagues, preparing and delivering food parcels to schools in Kettering. The team were thankful to be hosted by the Midland Langar Seva Society (MLSS), a charitable organisation that provides essential support to those facing hardship both in the UK and internationally, inspired by the Sikh principle of Langar (community kitchen). Reflecting on the experience, she shared, "It was a very rewarding day, and fantastic to contribute to such a worthy cause, that makes a difference to local families in need." ❤️ #WeAreRS #OurPeople #Volunteering #OneTeam #MakingAmazingHappen #ForABetterWorld
