This month more than 450 of our colleagues from around the world have united to embody our values - One Team, Delivering Brilliantly, Doing the Right Thing, Making Every Day Better - all while raising funds for our global charity partner, The Washing Machine Project. From Australia, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, South Africa, the Americas, France, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and Denmark, our teams donned running shoes, lifted weights, and committed to the RS Active for Change Challenge! Together they have covered a combined distance of over 42,000km so far. Clare Underwood, our Chief of Corporate Services, who launched the initiative with an impressive goal of achieving a 100kg deadlift and back squat, told us: “I have been truly inspired by the level of activity across the challenge. A big thank you to all of you who have taken part and raised funds for TWMP. “I have continued to progress on my strength challenge –100KG remains in sight! Not only that, but I have been motivated by the challenge to get out walking, hiking and running. Baxter, my cocker spaniel has been delighted by this!” The Active for Change Challenge has so far raised £1,600. If you would like to support The Washing Machine Project to help change the world, by alleviating unpaid labour, you can donate on our Just Giving page at: https://lnkd.in/e2ShbGE8 #ActiveForChange #TWMP #WeAreRS

Today, to coincide with World Mental Health Day, I am thrilled to announce the official launch of Lifeworks, our newest Employee Resource Group (ERG) at RS. As the executive sponsor, I am incredibly proud to support an initiative that strives to create an inclusive and safe space for our employees to learn, grow, and connect on important topics related to mental health and wellbeing, disability, neurodiversity, and financial wellbeing. I have personally seen how vital it is to have a supportive environment that respects and embraces the unique needs of every individual. I believe wholeheartedly that an inclusive workplace is a more innovative and productive one. That’s why I am so excited to be part of Lifeworks and help drive meaningful change. Together, we can create a culture that not only supports our diverse workforce but also strengthens our shared values. By opening up conversations and breaking down stigmas, we can truly make a difference - not just within our walls, but beyond them as well. #WorldMentalHealthDay #Lifeworks #Inclusion #MentalHealth #Wellbeing #Disability #Neurodiversity #FinancialWellbeing #BreakTheStigma #ERG

It was an honour to host over 70 investors and analysts at our in-person event last week in London, with another 98 joining us virtually, to discuss the RS Opportunity. Our agenda showcased presentations from our senior leaders, outlining our investment proposition, the markets in which we operate, the customers and suppliers we serve, what makes us different and our strategic action plan to improve the business further to generate sustainable through-cycle growth and returns. We also created two experience rooms, where our guests had the opportunity to understand 'What We Sell' and 'How We Sell' to our customers around the world and speak first-hand with our teams to find out more about what we’ve done so far, how we are set up as a business and how we are moving forwards. Feedback following the event, and how it has supported and enhanced understanding of our differentiated proposition and strategic actions, has been positive. You can find out more about the event and watch the on demand videos at: https://lnkd.in/eku8ZZNs I would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who attended the event and to our people who worked so hard to make amazing happen for those in attendance. #WeAreRS #InvestorEvent #MakingAmazingHappen Kate Ringrose | Clare Underwood | Peter Malpas | Stephen Izquierdo | Nick Young | Christian Horn | Janet Robertson | Douglas Moody | Sean Fredericks | Michael Cramb

The Our World team caught up with a powerhouse trio who are showing the world that disability is no roadblock to success! We chatted with Lee Petchey, Robbie Dunion and Diane Rose (she / her) about how they're smashing stereotypes and proving that with the right support, nothing can hold them back. Their stories are inspirational, making it clear that inclusion isn’t just a buzzword - it’s the secret sauce to our success! #OurWorld #Disability #OurPeople

“Applied Journalism” is a term I’ve proposed as a descriptor of what I’ve been doing with RS Group plc on the #FightToRepair series - when being interviewed by Stephen Holmes for DEVELOP3D… It reminded me of my A-Levels and how there was ‘theoretical’ and ‘applied’ maths, and physics. And I feel journalism perhaps has the same feeling… …What I’m trying to suggest is that I quite like being a critic occasionally, but what I like much much more than that - is trying to propose an alternative to what I’ve just been critiquing! I think this avoids just only seeing the negative (arguably not that intellectually difficult to have a ‘moan’!), but rather, to challenge ourselves to perhaps take an empathetic stance on why the status quo is what it is (complex - and why the long read is 25,000 words on RS DesignSpark ) - and then to see if it’s possible to propose something. Link below. For me this is core to being a designer/inventor/creative. And yet I appreciate that being a small entity, I’m not expecting to ‘show them all how it’s done’ - but I sincerely hope there might be some folks in a related company who see that I’m trying to open a conversation about improvements. So far, I’m pleased to say, this is ‘working’ and most companies are not alone in trying to balance ethics and economics of a more environmentally sound future. This however is what real innovation is about and I love it! And I’m grateful for companies who are willing to invest to push through a new ideology and methodology. I realise that teams end up doing ‘applied journalism’ internally. It’s about the R&D - but also the Comm’s. The facts that make the future fiction honest. I still feel I’m learning a new skill here, but I’m encouraged that when one looks at some of the best innovators - they perhaps intuitively do a mix of theoretical and applied work in what they do. I guess I didn’t learn this at school, but it feels like when working in sustainability - having a mix of being unsatisfied with the status quo, but also empathetic to why change will be hard - that means ideas have a realism to them which is useful to companies and consumers alike. If you need help changing innovation/communication culture in your company - I think this is a perfect time to apply some #appliedjournalism. To dive deep, but then craft an honest new offering. To apply the facts to the future fiction. These are exciting times to embrace a necessary economic and ethical change. Get in touch to dicuss what this looks like in your company… #changemanagment #thoughtleadership #speaking #sustainability #circularity #innovation #design #engineering
