Congratulations to Team WM for completing the gruelling Wolf Run! Abigail Bradley ACCA, Beata Gostynska, Jason Hercock MRICS, Jonny, Pip, Pru, Simon, Tom Knowles, Trevor Wells worked together as a (very muddy!) team to navigate the 10k course in the grounds of The Offchurch Bury, Leamington Spa, all while fundraising for Rainbows Hospice. Facing freezing cold water, deep mud and over 30 different obstacles, the team made it round the course in an impressive 2.5 hours. Team Captain, Beata Gostynska said: “We had such a great time and lots of laughs trying to push and pull each other over the obstacles and out of the mud. I think our most challenging obstacle was the ‘nutcracker’, essentially a stepped series of slippery logs that were quite far apart and almost impossible to grip, but we managed to climb it eventually. “It was a fantastic display of teamwork and we’re already planning to enter again next year, plus we’ve raised over £400 for Rainbows, which is brilliant news. Thanks to everyone who sponsored us,” adds Bea. Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People is based in our home county of Leicestershire and supports babies, children, young people and their families with vital care at the most difficult of times. One of Lutterworth’s most-well known religious buildings, the former Christian Fellowship Church on Chapel Street, will remain a place for worship after our Director, Andrew McFarlane-Holt secured a multi-year lease with a newly established church. When the Christian Fellowship Church closed last November, the landlord was keen for it to remain an asset for the community and approached Andrew to secure a new tenant. “As a Lutterworth-based business, we are extremely active in the town and our connections ensure we are astutely aware of local market activity,” says Andrew. “After securing the agreement to let the Church, we used our network to establish interest and it quickly became apparent that a new church had aspirations to launch in Lutterworth. The new tenants at Chapel Street are Life Church Lutterworth, which launched as a new church plant this summer following modest redecoration to modernise the building. Trustee, Stephen Mair explains: “It has been the vision of several of the Trustees for a number of years to launch a church in Lutterworth. When we became aware that the building was available to rent, following the closure of the previous church, we realised this opened a door to renting a church building within which to establish Life Church Lutterworth. “Its location is very accessible and there is a car park opposite. Since the middle of August, we have been meeting for worship services on Sunday mornings and plan to introduce support groups such as Parents & Tots, Men’s Mental Health Breakfasts, Women’s Groups and more over the coming months. It was a pleasure working with Wells McFarlane, as a local firm they were extremely knowledgeable and skilfully negotiated us a multi-year lease.” Andrew concludes: “It’s excellent news to have secured a long-term tenant with such extensive plans to support the people of Lutterworth and its surrounding villages. Our management accountant, Beata Gostynska has proven once again she is unstoppable when it comes to completing charity challenges! 💪 Last weekend, Bea took on the South West Coast Ultra Challenge, walking and running a 25km circular route from just below Dunster Castle in Minehead, Somerset. With views over the Bristol Channel and across Exmoor National Park, Bea said this is definitely one of the more scenic challenges she’s completed. A keen hiker, Bea also told us there were some tough hills to navigate along the course, including the highest elevation of 600m. Bea finished 53rd out of 192 total competitors and 33rd out of 135 women, a fantastic achievement. OFFICE NEWS: A longstanding client has been able to vacate their current office premises without a penalty as we secured a speedy underletting. Jan von Draczek, a Director at independent estate agency, Fine & Country was seeking to relocate from a Grade II listed office in Oundle, Northamptonshire but was still under lease. Having previously been a tenant at the Seaton Grange Business Centre in Rutland, Jan had stayed in touch with our Director, Jason Hercock MRICS. Jan explains: “Our business covers a wide geographical area and we found that Oundle wasn’t central enough so sought alternative premises. We quickly found a new office in nearby Uppingham and therefore needed to understand what our options were regarding exiting our current lease. “Having dealt with Jason previously, I knew him to be calm, approachable and very good at what he does, so put in a call. He highlighted the options we could explore, one of which was going to market for an underletting. With this knowledge, I was able to negotiate with our existing landlord to secure sufficient rights to proceed. “Jason’s expertise ensured a viable solution for all parties, and we were able to negotiate with an incoming tenant to take over the space,” adds Jan.
