Today, we are visiting the Mid Cheshire Trust to meet with their fantastic hospital staff! Producer Helen Brook will facilitate a series of short sessions to generate ideas for interventions that will connect them with nature, using the green spaces around the hospital grounds. And so it begins. For over a year the Wild Rumpus CIC team have been elbows deep in Norse mythology, in a whirlwind of stories of runes and ravens, golden boars and eight-legged horses. Tonight #theglitteringnorth launches at Raby Castle after a glorious preview under the Northern Lights on Thursday. Raby Estates is a bold and beautiful, future-facing place, don't let that medieval facade fool you! The team there, including Sophie Brown and Claire Jones have bravely trusted us to bring glittering unicorns, balkan brass bands and a kaleidescope of installations into their spaces. Puppet-makers, installation artists, musicians, storytellers, puppeteers and performers have descended, and the stage is set. We may be immersing audiences in ancient stories, but a new event, in a new venue, at a new point in the year, is inherently nerve-wracking. A collaborative project, producing a Super Natural sculpture trail! 🎃 This project has been a glorious, sprawling, creative collaboration with the Wild Rumpus in house team of artists and makers, reaching out their tentacles and drawing in sculptors, painters and makers, mainly from the North West. It's just two weeks until the grounds of Raby Castle come alive with music, performance, puppetry and magic at The Glittering North! Wild Rumpus Founder and Director, Rowan Cannon, conceived of this spellbinding event where the rich Norse heritage of this stunning castle will be brought to life with puppetry and music, sculptures and performance. Our creative team have been working hard all summer long to bring this wondrous event to life, collaborating with artists and makers across the country. Puppets have been created, installations crafted, instruments tuned, and performers prepped to produce this all new experience. Beautiful time at The Whirligig today as the autumnal sun shone through the trees. We had the pleasure of leading a workshop day in partnership with Big Imaginations, bringing together lots of amazing artists to explore creating work for the outdoors. 🌿
