  • WRFC: Weekly Round Up & This Weekends activities 15th & 16th March 2025: Men’s 1st XVs and Dev XVs win, Senior Women narrowly lose and Colts OBB Div 1 Title hopes are dashed at the death! Last weekend the Senior Men 1st and 2nd XV, Senior Women and Colts were in League action. The Men’s 1st XV were looking to bounce back from their narrow loss away at Bletchley. The Senior Women were looking to build on their impressive victory against Belsize Park from the previous week, and the Colts As and B Teams had important OBB League matches with the A Team playing RAMs Colts, a match that would define who would win the OBB Division 1 title. Saturday Rugby Review: Last Saturday before the Men’s 1st XV home league match against Chinnor 3rd XV, there was a league lunch with over 50 guests including a table from the Club’s main sponsors Savills, as well as Jack Rankin, the local MP for Windsor, and retired Lieutenant General Philip Jones, who is the Constable and Governor of Windsor Castle. At the lunch John Henson, from Savills, announced that Savills will continue to sponsor Windsor RFC for the 2025/2026 season which is much appreciated by the club. When the game kicked off Windsor were expecting a tough match against a side sitting in third place in the league especially after a hard fought winner at Chinnor before Christmas. In perfect conditions Windsor started strongly opening the scoring within the first 5 minutes with a Harry Bicknell try. This was converted by Ben Grant- Adamson to give the home side a 7 nil lead. Chinnor did fight back but continued to make handling mistakes. • WINDSOR RFC Colts Match Day Report: RAMs RFC Colts 22 VS Windsor RFC Colts 20 The two unbeaten teams in the top division of Oxon, Bucks and Berks (OBB) faced each other in the final league game of the season, with the winner securing the Colts Division 1 league title. Add to that a sunny Spring afternoon, amazing support with many families, friends and club members making the trip down to Reading, and the game granted RAMs 1st team Championship pitch, and the scene was set for a mouth-watering contest. From the get-go, Windsor pressured RAMs and spent the first 10 mins largely in RAMs twenty-two, though a number of attacking phases were thwarted by the hosts, and Windsor could not deliver an opening score. On the counter RAMs looked dangerous, but strong defense from Windsor kept them at bay. Windsor had worked hard in training on countering RAMs feared scrum and iin the earlier exchanges won two scrum penalties though excellent work by Matt Bark, Randy Karize and the Windsor pack. In a fiercely fought contest that ebbed and flowed it was RAMs that eventually broke the deadlock on 30 mins. Their customary kick to the corner, line out secured and and strong rolling maul they pushed close to the try line. A series of short drives and they went over for their first score, converted for a 7-0 lead. Windsor went straight back on the attack, and themselves came close to registering a try of their own, before losing the ball forward just short of the try line. • WINDSOR RFC Colts in action this weekend, with two sides travelling to Sonning & Didcot. We have a big weekend approaching our Colts 1st XV playing RAMs in the OBB Division 1 final league game of the season. Both teams are unbeaten, so the title will be decided on the result of this game. Very exciting. 13:30 KO, away to RAMs Our Colts Extra XV will be away to Didcot in OBB Division 3 fixture (KO 10:30, scheduled so the boys can get along to RAMs to watch their teammates. A 5-point win should see our B team move into 2nd place, against primarily a team in this league. Lets go boys!!!! 🟢🔴🟠⚫️ #WINDSORRUGBYCLUB #WRFC #WEAREWINDSOR #WINDSOR #ONECLUB #HOMEPARK #RFU #RUGBY #SUPPORTYOURLOCALCLUB #COLTSINACTION #GRASSROOTS #GRASSROOTSRUGBY #BERKSHIRERUGBY

  • WRFC: Weekly Round Up & This Weekends activities 8th & 9th March 2025: Try celebration costs Men’s 1st XV dear! Windsor Dames win to progress in the Papa Johns Community Plate. Saturday Rugby Review: Last Saturday the Men’s 1st XV and Dev XV’s were in league action. The Men’s 3rd XV Counties 4 BBO Cup Quarter Final at home to Chipping Norton was cancelled with the Men’s 3rd XV being a awarded a walk over. The Men’s 1st XV travelled to Bletchley for their latest Tribute Southern Counties North League match. This was always going to be a difficult encounter as Bletchley are in fourth place in the league and have historically been a difficult side to beat on home turf. The game proved to be a very tight affair. Bletchley opened the scoring with a penalty early on to lead 3 nil. Windsor soon fought back with a Ben Grant- Adamson try, which he duly converted to give Windsor a narrow 7 points to 3 lead in the first 10 minutes of the half. The remainder of the first half proved to be a dogged affair with Windsor failing to add any further points despite pressure on Bletchley’s try line. Bletchley, on the other hand, added two further penalties to lead at half time. Half Time Score Bletchley 9 Points, Windsor 7. • WRFC: January 2025 Volunteer Of The Month AWARD & Submit Your February 2025 Volunteer Of The Month NOMINATIONS I am delighted that Bandara is the club’s January Volunteer of the Month. Bandara richly deserves this award for all his hard work on a Sunday refereeing Junior Games at Windsor RFC. This included refereeing the Berkshire U14s Cup Final game between Windsor and Maidenhead in February. Without volunteer referees Windsor RFC would struggle to play so many Junior games on a Sunday morning. The Club is in urgent need of more volunteer referees also so if anybody can help please speak to Alan Davies, the Club’s Referees Co-Ordinator. Bandara will receive his award in due course at a future league lunch. Nominations are now wanted for February’s Volunteer of the Month.
