WiseEnergy is delighted to announce that NextEnergy Group has offset its 2022 and 2023 emissions with verifiable offsets. The Group’s emissions exclude financed emissions from NextEnergy Capital’s funds. This means that NextEnergy Group is carbon neutral from 2022. The Group's decision to select nature-based projects reflects the Groups commitment to safeguarding nature. WiseEnergy has been supporting the wider Group to leverage the synergies between climate and nature since 2014, managing pioneering solutions to halt and reverse nature loss through solar sites. Day-to-day, WiseEnergy work closely with ecologists, site managers and environmental bodies to ensure the land in and around each ground-mounted solar farm is managed in line with best practice guidelines. The first project from which NextEnergy Group has bought credits is the world’s largest blue carbon project, Delta Blue Carbon. It is protecting and restoring 350,000 ha of tidal river channels and creeks, low-lying sandy islands, mangrove forests and inter-tidal areas on the south-east coast of Sindh, Pakistan. The second project from which the Group has bought projects aims to restore 2,265.47 ha of degraded land in Myanmar by establishing and maintaining a sustainably managed mangrove ecosystem in the Ayeyarwady Division. WiseEnergy is proud to play a key role in the Group’s contribution to a #naturepositivefuture. The Group will continue to focus on reducing its carbon footprint where possible, and will offset the carbon emissions not able to be mitigated every year going forward. Last week, WiseEnergy's Global Head of Business Development and Innovation, Silvia Strada attended Energyear in Bucharest. The event discussed the new regulations the Romanian government have introduced over the past year, with the Contract for Difference #CFD mechanism and grid connection auctions standing out as key areas of focus. These initiatives aim to bolster solar development, enhancing renewable energy projects across the region. #BESS was also highlighted as a significant and emerging opportunity within the market, though currently in its initial development stage in the region. With a goal to increase wind and solar capacity by 10GW by 2030, it is clear that Romania is making significant strides in its path towards a sustainable energy future. | #Energyear | #EnergyearEasternEurope | #Romania | #CleanEnergy | #Renewables | #Conference | #Assetmanagement | #Energytransition |
