Helping housebuilders as the industry moves towards Future Home Standards.

Kudos to Taylor Wimpey Homes! Taylor Wimpey plc is on point with their innovative zero-carbon trial homes in Sudbury, Suffolk. These homes are designed to meet the upcoming Future Homes Standard (FHS), setting a new benchmark for sustainable living. Here's what makes these homes special: TWH prioritizes a "fabric first" approach with enhanced insulation and triple glazing to minimize heat loss. This reduces reliance on heating systems, saving energy and money. Smart Heating & Hot Water. Exhaust air heat pumps and heat pump cylinders provide efficient heating and hot water, further reducing carbon emissions. Solar PV panels contribute by generating clean electricity for the home. Sustainable Features, where waste water heat recovery captures residual heat, while smart controls empower homeowners to manage energy use effectively. Clever water-saving taps and showers minimize water consumption, and recycled materials contribute to a reduced environmental footprint. Biodiversity Boost. Bee bricks, bug hotels, and bird boxes promote a thriving habitat for pollinators and wildlife. Explore TWH's approach to the Future Homes Standard in more detail: https://bit.ly/3rGDDpN #TWFutureHomes #SustainableLiving WMS Underfloor Heating®

Helping housebuilders as the industry moves towards Future Home Standards.

The great Barratt Redrow merge……… Barratt Developments and Redrow plc, two of the UK's most prominent housebuilders, have a rich history of shaping the nation's housing landscape. Barratt Developments Founded in 1950’s by Lawrence Barratt. Mr Barratt, then a young accountant, couldn't afford to buy the house he wanted so built one himself instead. The four-bedroom home in Newcastle upon Tyne cost £1,750 and led to the formation of the company in 1958. Redrow was founded in 1974 by a then 21-year-old Steve Morgan with a £5,000 loan from his father. In the 1980s, they expanded from civil engineering to private homes with their first new development, Alafowlia Farm, in Denbigh. In a move that has reshaped the UK housing industry, Barratt and Redrow announced their merger in 2023 and completed the merge only a few weeks ago. This strategic partnership brings together two industry leaders, creating a formidable force in the market. The merger is expected to: 1. Enhance scale and market position: The combined entity will have a stronger market position and increased buying power. 2. Improve operational efficiency: By streamlining processes and sharing best practices, the companies aim to reduce costs and improve efficiency. 3. Accelerate growth: The merger will enable the combined group to accelerate growth and deliver more homes to meet the UK's housing needs. As these two giants join forces, they are poised to continue shaping the future of the UK housing market. What further benefit to the UK housing market do you think this will bring? #underfloorheating #sustainablehomes #greenenergy #zerocarbon #climatechange #housebuilding WMS Underfloor Heating®

❓Did you know that over 7 million households across the UK are affected by damp and mould? Plus, the NHS spend an estimated £1.4 billion a year on treating people with illnesses that are related to living in cold and damp conditions. These are staggering figures. This week sees the first ever Damp & Mould Action and Awareness Week Aico Limited to tackle a £2.5 billion problem. The week aims to really raise awareness of the harm to our health that damp and mould cause, and to ensure that the Labour government fulfil their pledge to extend ‘Awaab’s Law' whereby all social landlords will, by law have to fix reported health hazards like mould and damp within specific timeframes. We shared our own findings around the critical issue of mould within residential properties in a recent article, and outline why underfloor heating is such an ideal solution for Housing Associations across the UK. Did you know ancient Romans used underfloor heating? Its known as the 'Hypocaust system', it worked by circulating hot air beneath the floors of buildings to warm them. Here's a basic breakdown of how they functioned: 1. A furnace or boiler heated water or air. 2. The heated air or water was channeled through a network of underground flues or pipes. 3. These flues ran beneath the floors of buildings, creating a hollow space. 4. The hot air or water warmed the floor and radiated heat into the room above. Hypocaust systems were a significant advancement in heating technology during the Roman era, allowing for more comfortable living conditions in colder climates. Furthermore, we've invested heavily on our CPD program on underfloor heating. (Our most entertaining one yet)! This program is designed to support housebuilders in meeting future home standards. There are several myths on the subject of underfloor heating. Would you like to find out more?🤔 Book online or call me 24/5 on 07584702565.
