This #InternationalDayofCharity we have a lot to reflect on at Women's Aid. We’ve spent the last five decades building a powerful movement to end violence against women and girls. Despite the successes along the way, our mission feels more urgent than ever before. This summer, news headlines have been dominated by heart-breaking stories of male violence against women and girls. These are not isolated attacks - misogyny and hatred have allowed male violence to escalate to epidemic levels. We must end this cycle. If you believe all women deserve to be safe, join us. It doesn’t cost anything and you’ll be first to hear about how you can help us to end violence against women and girls. Join our movement today. About us

We are a federation of over 170 organisations that provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For 47 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse. Our support services, which include our Live Chat Helpline, the Survivors’ Forum, the No Woman Turned Away Project, the Survivor’s Handbook, Love Respect (our dedicated website for young people in their first relationships), the national Domestic Abuse Directory and our advocacy projects, help thousands of women and children every year.

While football should unite us, for many women, it brings fear and danger into their homes. Women's Aid is committed to raising awareness and understanding the link between sporting events and domestic violence. It’s time to take action and ensure everyone can feel safe during these moments of celebration. Read the full response from Women's Aid and learn how you can support the fight against domestic abuse. Our No Woman Turned Away (NWTA) Project provides one-to-one support and advocacy for women facing additional structural barriers to accessing safe accommodation including specialist refuges and local authority emergency and long-term accommodation. The NWTA practitioners search for refuge vacancies that are able to meet women’s individual needs, challenge statutory services to meet their legal duties to accommodate survivors and their children, and work with local services to ensure survivor’s wider needs are met. Our Nowhere to Turn 2024 report details the findings from the eighth year of the NWTA project. The report builds on our evidence base on the structural inequalities that many survivors face and makes evidence-based recommendations for key stakeholders. Too many survivors in the UK face barriers to accessing support. Our No Woman Turned Away (NWTA) project is here to help survivors get the support they need, just like Gurpreet did. 👉If you work for a Women's Aid member service or are a Routes to Support user, you can refer survivors to the NWTA project via our website. 👉If you're not a member service and don't have access to Routes to Support, please use our professionals' service, where we provide dedicated support. 👉If you're a domestic abuse survivor and believe you could benefit from the project, please: Contact your local domestic abuse service and request a referral. Reach out to the Women's Aid Live Chat service for support and more information. Together, we can ensure that no woman is turned away.
