A huge thank you to H&M for their incredible support in creating care packs for the women in our refuges. The care packs included sweaters, leggings, and Argos mobile phones, among other items. Your generosity helps us provide essential care for women and children escaping violence across London. About us
We’re Solace. For more than 40 years we’ve supported women and children in London to build safe and strong lives. Futures free from male abuse and violence. Whatever form violence comes in, from rape and trafficking to relationships based on psychological or financial control, we know escaping its effects can be the hardest thing to do. That’s why it's so important we’re here. We find creative and innovative ways to support thousands of women and children each year. Stand with us to end violence and abuse now. Our services include: - Advice, advocacy and support; improving safety, housing, finances and benefits, and health. - Counselling and support groups. - Safe refuge accommodation. - Dedicated support for families, children and young people. - North London Rape Crisis service. - Support for women with drug, alcohol and mental health issues. - Legal advice and representation. We also provide a service for male survivors and perpetrators of domestic violence in some London boroughs.

"Can I just say thank you because we might write a cheque or a policy, but you're doing the hard graft. We recognise that you're saving lives." That was Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan's message to Solace and sister organisations earlier this week when we joined him for a roundtable discussion to launch this new funding. #endvawg #vawg #domesticabuse #mayoroflondon #grassroots
Grassroots support groups and refuges are a lifeline for victims and survivors of domestic abuse. Here’s how our new £6 million fund will help them.

Solace was happy to join Mayor of London Sadiq Khan -here, with our CEO Nahar Choudhury- Claire Waxman OBE, sister organisations and survivors today at Lambeth Town Hall to announce the Mayor’s new £6 million investment to help domestic abuse survivors get the support they need to reach safe accommodation. Part of the mayor’s Domestic Abuse Safe Accommodation (DASA) programme, the funding will be used to fund keyworkers, helplines, advocates who can help survivors find new housing, legal advice, counselling and specialist play therapy for children, alongside a range of other initiatives. During the round table discussion, we emphasised the need for sustainable funding in the sector, and specialist support for women with complex, intersectional challenges such as homelessness and domestic abuse. We look forward to continuing our work with the mayor’s office in this vital area. #vawg #endvawg #mayoroflondon #domesticabuse #enddomesticabuse #domesticabusesurvivors #brixton

Thank you to Daniel Tomlinson (MP for Chipping Barnet) for attending a Solace refuge near his constituency. He joined us for a tour of the house and chatted to our survivors and team about the challenges we face and our key asks - mostly around the need for housing (especially move-on housing) and the gatekeeping our service users face when applying for accommodation, and our call for long-term sustainable funding. #ChippingBarnet #EndVAWG
