Another year...another World Travel Market (WTM) London ! Once again come and gone in a whirlwind of 🎉 joyous reunions, unexpected encounters 🤗, buzzing ideas 💡and so many hugs 🫂! I keep thinking about the 'magic' 🪄 that draws me back year after year, with excitement, expectations and pure anticipation...and it always delivers 💥! Women In Travel CIC was invited to close the first day of the #EDAI programme expertly put together by Uwern Jong and followed by an onsite networking. The theme of our panel was #Allyship 🤝as a tool to build inclusive workplaces and I am grateful to Uwern and to our panellists Shayna Zand Andrew Hunt David Atkin FIIRSM and Nelma N. who are true allies to myself and our organisation! If you are still wondering why Allyship matters, here are some of the insights that were shared on the panel: 📢Allyship builds a culture of self-awareness and transparency, in which vulnerability is seen as a strength not a weakness 📢Male Allyship is critical to everyone’s success in the industry. Due to their positional power senior male leaders can be visible role models and make positive impact by fostering a culture of inclusion 📢Women to women allyship is very important too, it should be celebrated and equally nourished to ensure more women progress and maximise available opportunities. 📢Mentoring is one valuable way to act as an ally, but certainly not the only one. Speaking up for the underrepresented or ensuring credit is given where it is due, are also ways of acting as allies. There are so many individuals I need to thank for making this WTM another wonderful and successful experience.
