👨💻 41% of men say that gender equality has gone too far Yesterday evening, I attended Women@Tech’s Being a Better Ally Panel hosted at Samsung Electronics’s KX location. 🏁 Lee from Male Allies UK started the event with a short keynote. As well as the stat at the topic of this post, he also shared that 81% of women in the workplace feel that they have experienced exclusion whereas 91% of men say that they are entirely inclusive. This gap set the scene nicely for the panel with Lee’s message being that Small Actions will make a difference. The panel, hosted by Kirstie, included Roland (Infosys), Julie (Cisco), Aimee (Samsung Electronics) and Tyler (Colt Technology Services). I asked them the below question via Slido. ❓What can Males, who aren’t in leadership positions, do to be a better ally? 🟢 Non-leaders can be allies by demonstrating their inclusion and challenging colleagues (no matter what their level is) on non-inclusive behaviours. 🟢 Non-leaders can become a better ally by asking questions and learning more about challenges that women face. 🟢 You can be a leader in non-managerial positions by demonstrating the right behaviours. The key message that I took away from the session was that there can be fear among men to do the right thing but the Power of the First Follower is key. Another great session 👏 BT Group BT Business BT Sourced BT en España #BT #BTMeansBusiness #GotYourBack #BetterOnBT #BTBusiness
