🎉 Wonderbly Surpasses 10 Million Personalised Books Sold! 📚
That's exciting isn't it!? As we mark this extraordinary milestone at Wonderbly, we find myself reflecting on the pillars that have upheld our journey from the first to the ten-millionth book:
All about the grit: Behind this seemingly glamorous achievement is an endless series of ups and downs, twists and turns, days filled with self-doubt, weeks ridden with anxiety, one near-near death experience (you can’t call yourself an entrepreneur if you don’t have that star on your belt) and yet we kept going. Huge gratitude to the Wonderbly team, whose dedication and perseverance have been crucial to our success. You inspire me daily.
Fortuitous Luck: While hard work has been crucial, we've also been fortunate. Our journey began with a serendipitous hit, Lost My Name, which was a pleasant surprise that exceeded all our expectations reminding us that sometimes, the stars align just right. From there, the challenge for me was clear: don't drop the ball, don’t f**k this up. Luck got us rolling, but grit, and our deliberate and thoughtful actions kept us on track.
Obsession with Quality: From our first book we've been obsessed with proving to ourselves and the world that personalised books can be much more than a novelty gift - they are a serious canvas for creativity and a real product of literature. This obsession has made us the best and largest personalised book company in the world.
Purpose and Values Over Vision: Over the years of evolving from a startup to a scale-up, I’ve come to realise that vision, while important, can sometimes be overrated. It is purpose and values that truly matter IMHO. Our journey with Lost My Name led us to adopt and embed courage, curiosity, and kindness into our company culture. These values haven’t just shaped our culture; they have been pivotal in driving our success.
Finally, "Busy is a Decision": In the early days, amidst demanding jobs and very young families, we had every reason to pass on the project that would become Lost My Name. Yet, we chose to find the time for this little side-project, proving that "busy" is truly a decision. This choice laid the foundation for everything that followed. On the risk of being a cliche - make time for your dreams and passions, at the very least it will make you a happier person.
This milestone reflects more than just numbers—it is a celebration of passion, innovation, and collective effort. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has joined us on this journey. Our fantastic team, our PSPs, our investors, and of course, our amazing customers.
And just to close with some fun data: Of the 10 million books sold, we've created personalised books with 501,617 unique names. Olivia tops the charts with 49,887 books. Even more fascinating—356,906 names have had just one book made for them. How’s that for unique?
Thanks a million—actually, ten million!
