🖥 Remote work as a reasonable accommodation is not a privilege. Remote work is a vital component in facilitating the inclusion of many disabled employees in the workforce around the world and is a reasonable accommodation under the #ADA Americans with Disabilities Act. Remote work enables employees with disabilities or children with disabilities to meet their unique and dynamic needs. How much are companies allowing for the needs of their hard working employees? For employees with disabilities, the rise of #remotework has brought significant benefits by removing physical barriers and providing more inclusive work environments. Remote work eliminates the need for commuting, which can be a significant challenge for many disabled employees. Remote work is a necessity for many disabled employees. #DisabilityInclusion Before covid it was a reasonable accommodation. It is most certainly a reasonable accommodation now. According to some people this isn't remote working. The fact I am in my garden, not sitting on a beach or by a pool, doesn't mean I'm not working remotely. I'm not tied to an office, I work based on objectives and outcomes, and I work with my co-founder and team asynchronously...across eight timezones. It's 30C in London, my office (the room in the loft of the house in this photo) is stinking hot, and I'm in my garden working on the adeus MVP. Call it what you want...remote...wfh...wfa. All I know is I'm productive, and a lot cooler than I would be if I were sitting in my home office. The weather is hot...and so is our MVP!

What can you achieve in 282,000 minutes? How about building an investor backed tech business from scratch? On 8th January Nick Adams and I walked into the Block Dojo startup incubator. Two guys with an idea but not much more than that. We didn't even have a name, hence Mankind in the circle as a placeholder! We've now built a business, are about to release a fantastic product, and today we officially opened our pre-seed investment round. Building a business isn't about raising money, and we haven't focused on it. We've invested our time and bootstrapped to build a business that will make a real impact. But to accelerate that business we need backers, people who not only invest money in our business, but also are vested in our mission, and will help us on the path to success. So if you've followed our journey to date, and our mission to change the way people plan and protect their legacies resonates with you, then please DM me if you're interested in investing. We're SEIS Advance Assured for those of you in the UK. #seis #legacyplanning #digitalwills #preseed

    Co-Founder & CEO @Deel (We’re growing!)

Deel is acquiring Hofy - Welcome to the team Sami & Michael and the Hofy team 🥳 This is a big one - we’re bringing the best IT services and device lifecycle management in-house. Deel has been long time customers and partners of Hofy, and we were so impressed with their global scale, expertise, and customer service, that we decided to join forces officially. Later this year we’ll be rolling out our end-to-end global IT services platform - called Deel IT - which will cover 120+ countries. Soon Deel customers will be able to deploy, collect, repair, and replace every device for every global worker right from inside the Deel platform. Alongside device supply and management, Deel IT will be a full IT service suite including software provisioning, app access management & integrations with mobile device management (MDM) and identity tools. It’s a game changer for busy HR & IT leaders who run global teams. We can’t wait to hear what you think. Adding IT services & device management is one more step towards our goal of becoming the most comprehensive HR & payroll platform worldwide. Let’s go! 🚀 👨💻

Our view on AI digital workers. If this idea came from the marketing team at Lattice it’s pure genius. If it was from Product Management then… Hmmm… #ai #digitalworkers Lattice

Here’s a thought Lattice … Maybe don’t roll out stuff you have no idea about and so quickly. It seemed like a one-day turnaround, and I can’t imagine the HR people in your org didn’t try to stop this. Maybe you should listen to them. I mean… it is an HR product and HR people are getting REAL tired of people from other areas of the business telling us what should be in HR products… #lattice #hr #hrtech

Remote Working can be hard. Sometimes it takes a while to learn how to be productive. You may be working in an unfamiliar environment, a long way away from the comfort and predictability of home. Without your support network. Working alongside new people. For some people and teams remote productivity comes easy. 🇬🇪 🇪🇸 For others it takes time. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 For even the most experienced, sometimes it just doesn't click. 🇮🇹 The important thing is to try different things, experiment, see what works...and when you find it, double down on it. Don't give up too early. Don't listen to the naysayers and the RTO brigade. #remotework #futureofwork #footballsdontsayitcominghome

I just read a post about not working on the weekend. Why not? We're in a world where tech allows us to work wherever we want... whenever we want. For those that are remote workers in progressive companies that focus on flexibility - delivering on objectives and working asynchronously - if you're productive on the weekend and want to free up time for something important to you during the week, why not? Or for a startup founder when the work never begins, or ends, what can be more productive than this. Glastonbury on the TV... laptop open... adeus help desk document in the middle of the first draft. Why not? #remotefirst #wfh #futureofwork

Office distractions are a nuisance—and an opportunity for entrepreneurs and business leaders who want to help fix them. For my latest for Forbes, we spoke with companies helping workers navigate the new normal of a too noisy—or too quiet—workspace, ranging from makers of phone booths like Framery to designers of "soundscapes" like Moodsonic to people like Fred Wilson and Joanne Wilson launching new coworking spaces that prioritize private space for users. The issue has been a factor in "surging" demand for sound-friendly products from furniture designers like Zintra Acoustic Solutions, the development of new product lines from companies like IKEA and the even the creation of "Internet of Things" (IoT) device prototypes from software makers like monday.com. Workplaces at companies like Intuit Mailchimp are redesigning offices with acoustics in mind, or at least handing out free noise-canceling headphones. At times, they're trying to address one of the ironies of the post-pandemic workplace: People are distracted by sound in the office, but it’s often because it’s too quiet, rather than too loud. Instead of having 60 people in an open office where a hum of many conversations happens in the background, “now maybe you have 15 people, and when one person speaks, everyone hears everything that they’re saying,” says Evan Benway, Moodsonic's founder, which uses sensors to make generative, real-time "soundscapes" in workplaces. “It’s perfect speech intelligibility”—and the issue that bothers people most. Read on for what I hope is a fun Friday story about a long-standing challenge that the realities of the post-pandemic workplace—reset expectations for privacy after years of WFH, more chatter as offices become "collaboration" centric, booked-up huddle rooms and loud voices on Zoom calls in open plan offices—haven't helped improve.
