Professor Piero Formica Joins WHIS 2024 as Keynote Speaker! 🌍✨World Health Innovation Summit We’re honored to welcome Professor Piero Formica, a renowned economist, author, and thought leader in the knowledge economy, as a keynote speaker at WHIS 2024! With decades of expertise across academia, innovation, and international economics, Professor Formica brings transformative insights into the convergence of knowledge, creativity, and enterprise. Professor Formica’s illustrious career began in the 1970s as an economist at the OECD - OCDE where he contributed to pivotal research on labor markets and economic cycles. Since then, his work has spanned across Cambridge, Italy, and numerous institutions globally, where he has shaped policies, fostered science and tech parks, and advanced entrepreneurship education. Throughout the 2000s, he pioneered the International Entrepreneurship Academy and introduced Europe’s first master’s in innovative entrepreneurship at the University of Tartu. Professor Formica has held prestigious academic positions worldwide, including at Abu Dhabi Men’s College, Jonköping University, and Maynooth University, and has earned multiple honors, such as the Innovation Luminary Award from the EU and the Magister Peloritanus Award. Author of more than a dozen influential books, including The Experimental Nature of New Venture Creation and Innovation and the Arts, Professor Formica champions a new economic era focused on open innovation and sustainable growth. We're thrilled to announce that Ben Wilkins CEO of Good Boost will be speaking at WHIS 2024, sharing his invaluable expertise in digital health innovation and musculoskeletal (MSK) care! Ben brings a wealth of experience as a registered Osteopath with a Master’s in Osteopathy from Oxford Brookes University and an MSc in Musculoskeletal Science from the University of Oxford. As CEO of Good Boost, Ben leads initiatives that bring therapeutic MSK exercise and self-management services to communities through leisure centres, swimming pools, and more, with a strong focus on “Active Ageing” and “Healthy Ageing.” He has published widely on aqua rehabilitation, digital rehabilitation technology, and peer-led MSK community services. Ben also serves as the MSK Clinical Champion for Versus Arthritis, Chair of the MSK Expert Group for WHIS, and is a member of the WHO’s World Rehabilitation Alliance. Dr. Olga Cabello Henry is a U.S. Department of State expert global health and U.S. government interagency coordinator. She is currently the Senior Nutrition and Health Advisor in the Office of the Special Envoy for Global Food Security and previously served as the Senior Health Advisor in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs. She has coordinated the State Department’s participation in the World Health Assembly and the U.S. interagency participation in World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland. Dr. Cabello Henry was the Deputy Special Coordinator of the State Department’s COVID-19 Global Response Coordination Unit. Dr. Cabello Henry served as the Life Sciences Specialist in the Office of the Science and Technology Adviser to the Secretary of State, and as the Health Legislative Assistant for the late Senator Joe Lieberman. Prior to joining the State Department, she was the Director for International Development for the National Science Foundation IRIS Consortium. During her academic career, Dr. Cabello Henry was an Assistant Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston, TX and an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular and Human Genetics at the Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, TN. She received a Ph.D. in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics from Baylor College of Medicine, a M.S. in Cardiovascular Physiology, from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico, and a B.S. in Biomedical.
