🐴✨ It’s time to register for our internationally renowned annual conference! This year, an outstanding line-up of speakers and panellists will be considering the question: What is a good life for a horse? We all aspire to give our horses a ‘good’ life – but what does this really mean? 🤔 Our idea of a ‘good life’ may not be the same as someone else’s – while the horse’s experience could be something else entirely 🐎💭. 📅 The Conference takes place on Thursday, 7th November 💻 Register to access this free online event throughout the day and take part in live Q&As! 🌍 Live French and Spanish interpretation available 🌐 🔗 Find out more and sign up here ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eaytJfbf #GoodLife4Horses

We are an international horse charity that improves the lives of horses in the UK and around the world.
About us
World Horse Welfare, the leading international horse charity, is dedicated to promoting horse welfare worldwide. Founded in 1927, and formerly called The International League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH), the charity is committed to stamping out suffering and improving the life of horses in the UK and overseas through education, campaigns and hands-on work with horses. Unique among horse charities, World Horse Welfare actively supports the use of horses in sport and is the welfare arm of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) and advisor to the British Horseracing Authority. In the United Kingdom, it has four Rescue and Rehoming centres and a network of full-time welfare field staff. Overseas, it provides communities with the skills and training to care for their working horses and enhance horse owners’ prospects. The charity also delivers high profile and effective international campaigns to promote the welfare of horses at home and abroad. Please visit www.worldhorsewelfare.org.

This week our Public Affairs team were in Brussels for a meeting of Eurogroup for Animals Equine Working Group chaired by our Director of Communications and Public Affairs Jessica Stark. Discussions were held around the recently produced White Paper ‘Good Welfare for Equids’ which includes indicators for positive and negative welfare and lays out why improving welfare for all horses is essential in Europe. This was followed by a visit to the European Commission as part of Eurogroup for Animals to ask the new Commission to deliver on their proposals to improve animal welfare. #animalwelfare #animalrights

🐴💡 It's Myth Busting Monday! The horse world is full of ‘myths’ about some of the things that horses do – without recognising that many of these behaviours are due to pain. Here is just one of 33 behaviours that may be caused by pain in a horse that doesn’t show obvious lameness. For more information, you can read our full ‘myth busting’ guide here 👉 https://bit.ly/3XH2t6F #WorldHorseWelfare #MythBustingMonday

Jessica Stark, our Director of Communications and Public Affairs, is in Sweden to attend the first ever Horse Welfare Summit at the wonderful venue of Flyinge, and to speak about equestrianism's Social License to Operate: "Social License is not just about what we say, but also about what we do. We are all responsible for making meaningful changes to provide a good life for our horses." Thank you Flyinge AB for giving us the opportunity to participate in this excellent summit, and for creating a space for these important conversations on the welfare and ethics of horse sport.

A herd of 13 neglected horses, known as the 'Harefield Horses', has been rescued by our charity and reunited with the women who refused to stand-by and watch them suffer 💙 Read more below and watch our film (linked in article) to find out all about this unusual group horse rescue story and the amazing transformation of pony, Midnight, who shocked the local residents who had cared for her when they were reunited with her this summer 👇 #WorldHorseWelfare
