What a dynamic week at Y Entertainment! Here, we pride ourselves on the diverse setting of collaboration among our teams. Our company is currently handling various exciting projects, and each team is working hard to research and design potential models that will align with our vision, mission, objectives, and SMART goals. At the highest level, the teams are divided under two umbrellas – business and technology development. At Y Entertainment, we aim to push an #entrepreneurial perspective amongst our teams, thus we can be #agile. We also foster #innovative and #creative approaches, while using the latest technology tools for work. This week we remotely held a Super Meeting to align our business teams. To amplify our efforts and make our community even more united, here is how this is unfolding. We have so far started our projects with five student consultancy groups. Liverpool Business School teams: - Large & Long: Serena & Cecilia will look into examining fashion brands at the New York Fashion Week - Elysium Solutions – Adam, Xavier, Max and Mckenzie – will be looking into private equity investments in #SiliconValley. - Fellas – Sam, Dylan, Chris, Ewan, Alex – will be examining various Web3 blockchain development opportunities. University of Portsmouth, Business and Law's team – consisting of Md Itequaf, Smart, Babatunde, Gursharanpreet, NAVJOT – will be examining the customer and the end-consumer that the brands we sing on, or ourselves could sell to. Furthermore, The Manchester Metropolitan University's Sanchia will contribute with bridging between business and technology. All these business efforts have so far been further supported by our ongoing collaboration with Edge Hill University Business School and their hard working students on three teams: Accounting: Ema, Sarah, Denny, Joseph. Creative Development: Brittany, Kian, Alex. Marketing: Libbi, Nadine, Amber, Vithuja. We are further looking to inspire all these teams in science and technology through our ongoing collaboration with STFC Hartree Centre. What an incredible community indeed, only touching on our technology development side for now – more about that, all of our wonderful volunteers, consultants, and what is coming up, next time... Liverpool Echo, in case you need a story, our marketing team is on standby. In a sense, what #ChatGPT has really been teaching us so far is the importance of asking the right questions – and doing so in the right way.

Food for thought 🧠
“I imagine that the best strategy is to do 100 things and hope that some of them work – and if they don’t, do another 100 things,” said economic sciences laureate Edmund Phelps when asked how governments should encourage entrepreneurs. “I don’t know how you breed entrepreneurs. If I wanted to be fanciful I would think about maybe changing high school programmes so that students are made to understand that you could be creative in business too.” Phelps believes that the “whole classical idea of a good life – a life of adventure, expanding your horizons, discovering your talent, that notion that’s in Aristotle and Cervantes and in Shakespeare and a whole bunch of other writers and thinkers” has been lost, perhaps to the detriment of entrepreneurism. “People today seem to be obsessed with job security and they seem to be asking the politicians to do everything possible to reduce uncertainty. But we can’t have an exciting life if we don’t accept uncertainty,” he said. Phelps was awarded the prize in economic sciences for his analysis of intertemporal trade-offs in macroeconomic policy, especially about inflation, wages, and unemployment. In the late 1960s, Phelps began his prize-awarded work, which challenged the assumption that high levels of unemployment corresponded with low levels of inflation and vice versa. 11 years. Collaborating with talented individuals like Muhammad Talha is something we truly cherish. This month, as we celebrate 11 years since Y Entertainment’s incorporation, we are releasing this beautiful gem that he designed for us to mark the occasion. It’s a digital 3D model of a bracelet, created as part of the innovation we are developing. We are looking to tokenize 3D digital twins and mint them as NFTs. However, our primary goal is to build a strong community and fund the business through various innovative means, preferably sales. If you’re interested in supporting us, please feel free to reach out. If we have managed to survive for 11 years, whichever way that was, you can trust that this is a long-term vision that we share and are working on. Thank you very much for this, Muhammad, and to another 11 years and more!

Dealing with Trolls by Nadine. Trolls, in the context of online platforms, refer to individuals who purposefully engage in disruptive or inappropriate behaviour with the intention of provoking emotional responses and inciting conflict. They often post offensive, misleading, or controversial content to elicit reactions from others. Their actions can range from making derogatory comments, spreading misinformation, or engaging in personal attacks. It is important to recognise and address trolling behaviour while maintaining a respectful attitude. Here are some strategies to help you deal with trolls: 1. Don't take it personally this means you need to remember that trolls often seek to provoke a reaction, so try not to let their comments affect you personally. It is important to remind yourself that their behaviour says more about them than it does about you. 2. Ignore and disengage this means that trolls thrive on attention, so one effective approach is to simply ignore them. Avoid responding or engaging with their comments, as this may only fuel their behaviour. 3. Use privacy settings and report this means that you should take advantage of privacy settings on social media platforms to control who can interact with you. If a troll continues to harass you, report their behaviour to the platform administrators. They can take appropriate action to address the issue. 4. Seek support. Being trolled can affect how you feel so it is important to reach out to friends, family, or online communities for support. Talking about your experience and receiving encouragement can help you feel less affected by the trolling. 5. Maintaining a positive online presence means you should focus on sharing positive content, engaging in constructive discussions, and surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals. By promoting positivity, it leads to a more supportive online environment. Resources: ➤ What does trolling mean? Available from: https://lnkd.in/e5PXiiq8 ➤ What is Trolling and How Should I Respond? Flexibility through Volunteering and Zero hour contracts by Amber. Zero hour contracts don't guarantee a set number of hours for employees which offers flexibility and at times convenience but it can also lead to uncertainty and job insecurity. They benefit managers as they can bring in employees according to demand so they will work when they are needed rather than wasting time when the demand is low. They also benefit the employee as they can outline times and days they can work which allows them to balance work with other commitments they have like education or caregiving. Drawbacks: - Unpredictable hours make it harder to plan life around it. - May be unable to drop prior commitments if needed. The Guardian says ‘Employers counter any criticisms of the use of zero-hours contracts by arguing that employees like the flexibility’. Some statistics: - The average hours worked on zero-hours contracts are 25 per week, with 40% of workers wanting more hours than they are given. - Women are more likely to be on such contracts, as are people under 25, and over 65. The Guardian - What are zero-hour contracts: https://lnkd.in/eNS2EtHv Volunteering also offers flexibility to individuals as it allows them to contribute their time and skills based on their availability. The flexibility that comes with volunteering is beneficial for those who are balancing work, studies or family responsibilities. This way they can still get valuable experience, networking opportunities and a sense of fulfilment whilst also completing their other responsibilities. Drawbacks: - Limited control over tasks. - Schedule conflicts. The CIPD believes flexible working should be the norm as it helps to increase employee engagement and wellbeing across an organisation. According to research from Zenefits, 78% of employees felt that flexible work increased their productivity and 73% said it increased their satisfaction at work. Zenefits also found that 77% of employees list flexible working as a major consideration for a new role but only 67% of organisations offer flexible working. Benefits and Drawbacks of Promoting Business on Social Media by Nadine. Social media is a platform where people can connect and interact with each other online. It allows us to share photos, videos, and thoughts on social media. Social media has its benefits when it comes to promoting businesses, but it also has some drawbacks. Benefits: - Increased reach means social media allows businesses to reach a larger audience and connect with potential customers from all over the world. This can lead to increased brand visibility and awareness. - Cost-effective because compared to traditional advertising methods, social media is often more affordable and accessible for businesses, especially small ones with limited budgets. It provides a platform to promote products and services without breaking the bank. - Direct engagement means that the l media enables businesses to engage directly with their audience through comments, likes, and shares. This interaction can help build relationships, establish trust, and create a loyal customer base. - Targeted Advertising means social media platforms can offer advanced targeting options, allowing businesses to tailor their ads to specific demographics, interests, and behaviours. This increases the chances of reaching the right audience and generating higher conversion rates. Drawbacks: - Time and effort links to social media accounts and creating engaging content can be time-consuming. It requires consistent effort to maintain an active presence, respond to comments, and keep up with trends. - Negative feedback means social media provides a platform for customers to voice their opinions, which can include negative feedback or complaints. Businesses need to be prepared to handle and address these issues promptly and professionally. - Information overload means the abundance of content on social media; businesses may find it challenging to stand out and capture the attention of their target audience. It requires creativity and strategic planning to cut through the noise. - Potential for miscommunication means that social media communication can sometimes be misinterpreted or misunderstood, leading to conflicts or reputational damage. Businesses need to be cautious and ensure clear and respectful communication. Overall, while social media offers numerous benefits for businesses, it's important to be aware of the potential drawbacks and address them effectively. With a well-planned strategy, businesses can leverage social media's advantages to promote themselves. Slack vs Discord by Amber and Nadine. When considering which communication platform you want to use it’s important to look into the features they each offer, why they are good and what they might be missing so you can make the right decision. Slack is primarily designed for professional teamwork and workplaces. It offers features like channels, direct messaging, file sharing, and integration with productivity tools. Slack is known for its clean interface, organised conversations, and seamless collaboration. Furthermore, Slack is good for project management, team communication, keeping all employees on the same page and understanding. In a Forbes article slack has been reviewed as an excellent communication and collaboration tool for anyone that connects to thousands of other apps and has a built-in workflow builder to easily automate messages, checklists and file sends. How to use Slack YouTube video: ➤ https://lnkd.in/eSf7XeN9 Forbes review: ➤ https://lnkd.in/ez6wCz5z. It is good because: - It streamlines communication by organising conversations into channels which improves focus. - It is available on multiple devices and platforms. - You can easily search and find your past messages and files. - It provides security with data encryption and two-factor authentication.
