Happy World Menopause Day from everyone here at the Youth Sport Trust! ❤️ We work hard to ensure that our team experiencing the menopause feel supported and empowered to ask for what they need. The purpose of World Menopause Day is to raise awareness of menopause, break the stigma, and highlight the support available. It's a good time to start or continue a conversation about menopause at work, as many people in the workforce experience it. To celebrate, today we are hosting an online yoga class for our team to get involved with to nurture their mental and physical health during the work day.🧘 How will you be celebrating World Menopause Day? #WorldMenopauseDay #Menopause

On 30 October, the UK Government will announce its Budget – the first of a new Parliament. We know that increasing opportunities for physical activity in childhood can break down barriers to opportunity and help create the healthiest and happiest generation of British children and that’s why, in this Budget, the Government must deliver for children and young people. Sadly, at present less than half (47%) of children and young people are active for 60 minutes a day as recommended by the UK's Chief Medical Officers. Change is required - we need a new national plan guaranteeing every child 60 active minutes a day. The Government can use this Budget to help break down barriers and ensure every child and young person has opportunities to be physically active every day, in schools and communities. This can be achieved by extending funding for successful and impactful programmes currently delivering physical activity, including the Primary PE & Sport Premium, Opening School Facilities and Holiday Activities and Food programmes, as well as guaranteeing safe spaces to be active and access to high-quality coaches and activity professionals outside of the school environment. Key to progress must see the Government work in partnership with the National Sector Partners Group and the wider sport, physical activity and recreation sector, as well as with other sectors such as education and health. By doing so, and unlocking the potential held across communities to deliver opportunities reaching every child, the Government can harness the power of physical activity to support young people to develop a life-long love of movement, improving both their physical and mental health. We are striving to play our part in equipping educators to level up life chances of young people who are suffering from the effect of inequalities, as we believe educators are key role models for young people. 🙌 We recently asked educators who work closely with us to provide us with characteristic information, and it is clear that we need to be more ambitious in achieving greater diversity of the role models in education that we work with. We are committed to making a change and included in our intentions is an opportunity for PE leaders from ethnic diverse communities to take part in a fully funded leadership developmental programme, which has the following outcomes: ✅ Strengthening ethnic diversity in the PE leadership profession ✅ Further enhance attendees’ leadership and decision making in PE, school sport and physical activity ✅ Provide a space for sharing learning and networking ✅ Work with us to ensure the charity is better positioned to support educators from ethnically diverse communities You can learn more here: https://lnkd.in/ewjsDxkT #PE #SchoolSport
