Our delivery of Victoria’s first all-electric bus depot was the centrepiece of Gareth Ridge’s presentation at Bus Association Victoria’s Transitioning to ZEB Summit last week. The project at Ventura Bus Lines' Ivanhoe depot, saw our on-the-ground team in Australia deliver the charging infrastructure, including smart charging software, to support 27 electric buses. Throughout the operations, our team will take ongoing responsibility of the performance of the infrastructure to ensure Ventura's buses are always ready for service. Earlier this month Nottingham City Transport (NCT) welcomed the new Local Transport Minister, Simon Lightwood MP, in his first official engagement in the role at Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom. As Lightwood said, “Buses are critical to connect our communities, and Nottingham is a shining example of how we can fix the broken bus system." And with phase one of NCT's Trent Bridge depot electrification now complete, it's certainly is a shining example of bus electrification being delivered for communities today. The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero estimates that deploying 20GW of electricity storage could save the public up to £24 billion by 2050. In fact, our 1.32GW/2.57GWh pipeline of #batterystorage in Scotland – enough to power every Scottish household for over two hours – is forecast to lower consumers bills by over £1 billion over 15 years. And the one million tonnes of carbon savings from these batteries is equivalent to removing the car emissions of Glasgow and Edinburgh combined. Read Co-Founder James Basden's piece below to understand why Labour must embrace battery storage to achieve its #cleanpower by 2030 target.
Labour’s announcement today of an innovative partnership between Great British Energy and The Crown Estate shows the strong intent the party has of making Britain a clean energy superpower by 2030. While this bold statement is ambitious, Labour cannot focus solely on renewable energy production. The government needs the power and flexibility of battery storage to get anywhere close to achieving this target. It is time to acknowledge that storage is a key enabler and take action. Read more >>

Zenobē CEO Dr. Donald Weir and Co-Founder Steven Meersman were on-site at Extreme E’s Hydro X Prix in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland recently alongside Andrew Deakin of Dumarey Green Power to see our island of five mobile, second-life battery units and one mobile DC Powergrid carrying out their role in delivering clean, sustainable power to the event. Our mobile battery units, made from old electric bus batteries that have come to the end of their first life, are a key component of the temporary microgrid developed at each race event, storing DC power generated by ENOWA’s hydrogen fuel cells and used to power the race paddock. Our work with Extreme E continues to demonstrate the viability of second life batteries as a circular solution to phase out diesel generators. #ExtremeE #circularity #secondlifebatteries #secondlife

First Minister John Swinney announces that an innovative bus industry consortium will deliver 252 new #ZeroEmission buses and coaches to Scotland’s roads. £41.7 million grant funding will support eight operators, led by electric vehicle fleet specialist Zenobē, to deliver the buses along with a Scotland-wide charging network. This is the second, and final, round of subsidy from the Scottish Zero Emission Bus Challenge Fund, which brings together businesses from across the bus, energy and financial sectors. It builds upon £113 million The Scottish Government has already invested in zero emission buses and supporting infrastructure. Co-Founder Steven Meersman and members of EV Fleet team were pleased to welcome First Minister of The Scottish Government, John Swinney MSP to Stagecoach Group Limited Dunfermline today. The event officially announced the award of Scottish Zero Emission Bus Challenge (ScotZEB) phase two funding - £41.7 million of funding to enable a consortium of 8 SME, mid-market and major bus and coach operators to transition their fleets to zero-emission alternatives. Zenobē will play a lead role for the consortium, providing tailored financing structures to reduce both upfront and lifetime costs of electric fleet operations - while also delivering key infrastructure and ongoing support for electric vehicle operation. Speaking at the event the First Minister acknowledged the crucial role of public and private sector partnerships in achieving net zero goals, “Every £1 from the Scottish Government will leverage £3.20 of private sector investment – demonstrating that our shared decarbonisation goals can be met by working together and that the private sector is now leading the way on removing carbon emissions from our bus and coach fleets.” We are looking forward to transforming Scotland's electric transport connectivity. Thanks for your collaboration so far D&E Coaches Ltd, Ember, Hairy Haggis Tours, Maynes Coaches , McGill's Bus Group, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Premier Coaches and Stagecoach Bus Scotland. £920m was added to customer bills in Great Britain last year to cover the costs of curtailment. With Eku Energy, Field and Kona Energy UK, we're calling on National Grid ESO to significantly cut this cost to consumers by using energy storage to increase intertrip capacity on the network. "These solutions that we are pushing for do not really require any technological changes, it’s just using the existing solution in a different way that can save consumers money.” said Tom Palmer, Head of Business Development, speaking to Utility Week on the matter. Battery degradation is where a battery's energy storage capacity depletes over time and can be a key concern for fleet operators looking to switch to electric. In our latest insight we provide an explanation of battery degradation, including: 🔋 the factors that affect it 🔋 how to minimise it 🔋 its implications on the total cost of ownership, and more Read 'Battery degradation and how to manage it', here > https://lnkd.in/e4bZUYsH #insight #batterydegradation #batterymanagement #evbattery

Great Britain experienced a rapid demand increase of 1300MW during half time of the #Euros2024 Spain vs England final on Sunday. Grid scale battery storage fulfilled 400MW of this demand, demonstrating the key role storage plays in responding quickly to changes in the network and providing a clean and flexible solution to balancing supply and demand on the grid. #BESS #batterystorage National Grid ESO
🦁 Take a look at how demand for electricity in Great Britain fluctuated during last night’s #Euro2024 Spain vs England final and how this compared to the Italy vs England Euro 2020 final. ⚽ Last night, demand began to fall before the 8pm kick-off and continued to do so until half time. We experienced a rapid demand pick up of 1300MW at half time which we fulfilled using 700MW of hydro 💧, 400MW of batteries 🔋 and increasing conventional units already running. As the second half kicked off, demand for electricity fell until the full time whistle where we experienced demand increase gradually by 600MW. During the Italy vs England final in 2020, you can see a sharp rise in demand at full time as the nation rushed to get refreshments in the short gap before extra time kicked off. Because last night’s final ended after 90 minutes the increase in demand was much more gradual.
