Doctoral Researcher in Sociology | Environment-induced Human Mobilities | Feminist Environmentalism | Feminist PAR | India-Bangladesh
This was my first attempt at communicating my research in the form of an artwork- "In the Land of Bonbibi: Resilience and Everyday Adaptations of the Women of Sundarban" at the Cabot Annual Research Showcase, University of Bristol. I tried to put forward the everydayness and self-perceptions of "adaptations" of the women of Sundarban, in both India and Bangladesh in the form of stories that the women told me during my six-month-long participatory fieldwork. Not being an arty person, this was an extremely daunting experience for me. But, I am truly grateful that the exhibit struck a chord with the panelists and visitors! This would not have been possible without the continuous support of Goranbose Gram Bikash Kendra (GGBK) and my supervisors Professor Bridget Anderson and Dr Alix Dietzel. Thanks to Cabot Institute for the Environment for this opportunity! Bristol Doctoral College University of Bristol
