Faculty Employability Coach | Lancaster University (Arts & Social Sciences) | Supporting Students & Connecting Businesses with Top Talent
I was very pleased today to be involved with the launch of Learning, Education, and Pedagogy (LEAP) at Lancaster University, facilitated and supported by some of my wonderful colleagues across the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Romain Bardot opened with a poignant statement which I instantly scribbled down: "When everything feels like it is speeding up, why don’t we create a space to slow down" and the positive comments (and my scribbles) just continued throughout! We heard from Simon Allan on the importance of the scholarship of teaching and learning, taking risks and highlighting how deep thinking can create tension, discomfort, and dissonance—brilliantly illustrated through a physical Rodin activity (you had to be there! 😆) As always it was a joy to hear from Radka Newton, Emma Watton and Paula Ainsworth, SFHEA about their experiences and fantastic insights from launching the Centre for Scholarship and Innovation in Management Education , offering invaluable and candid tips into fostering communities and making an impact! I am excited to see how LEAP continues to grow and shape conversations around learning, education and pedagogy in Arts and Social Sciences.
