We were delighted to be in attendance at the successful annual CTBUH conference in London’s Barbican last month. Stuart Freeman joined the panel to discuss the sustainable approach to tall buildings and Russell Gravatt’s role as juror and assisting in the appointment of the winning projects. During the panel discussion on why clients opt to renew their existing structures, one notable insight from a risk and insurance perspective emerged when participants were asked what they would change about their landmark projects. A recurring theme was the need for more comprehensive condition surveys during the design phase, especially for refurbishment and retrofit projects. By conducting thorough assessments early on, teams can gain a clearer understanding of the structure’s true condition. These findings then inform the design process, helping to optimise the project timeline and budget, and preventing issues down the road. If you wish to discuss any of these points further please reach out and we will be more than happy to help Sam Hiller.
