We had an excellent day yesterday at the University of Exeter Career Zone Fair for students and graduates! We love opportunities like this to encourage the consideration of technical careers and showcase some of the weird and exciting things our techs get involved in! All our roles are listed on jobs.exeter.ac.uk - you can set up a job alert and filter by "technical and laboratory staff" so you get told when a new position becomes available! #techniciansmakeithappen #research #teaching #education #technicalcareer #STEMM #Humanities

We hosted engineering A-level students from all over the South West in a schools outreach visit. In sessions led by our Senior Experimental Officer James Bassitt and Experimental Officer Garry Massey, students experienced being on a train and a boat via our moving floor, explored underneath the platform and took part in three group tasks using the sensors and force plates.
We've been working hard over the last year to bring together our Research Facilities under individualised but consistent branding. It's great to see the positive impact this is having both in individual teams, but also across our entire Research Facility family. Find out more about our Research Facilities and how you can work with them to produce excellent scientific outcomes across a range of specialist technologies: https://lnkd.in/eh6nKM-7
Thank you to #salcombeembroiderers for our fabulous new T-shirts, which incorporate the new University of Exeter branding.

Exciting work by James Bassitt, our Experimental Officer with VSimulators 🌊
I'm excited to share that we recently conducted a 'modal test' on Skerryvore lighthouse to assess its structural integrity and ability to withstand operational loads. This involved using highly sensitive accelerometers and advanced mathematical techniques to analyze the horizontal (sway) vibration patterns and natural frequencies. I also had the opportunity to shoot the drone footage for this project, capturing some incredible views! Special thanks to the Northern Lighthouse Board and the NLV Pharos for their help and support. #Engineering #DroneFootage #StructuralIntegrity #Lighthouse #Innovation #Teamwork James Brownjohn Ahmed S.
