At DHF, we're proud to announce the transformation of our herb packaging to support our zero waste goals! 🌍✨ 🌿 Old Packaging: Plastic box with lid weighing 13g. 🌱 New Packaging: Recyclable paper with less than 1g of plastic. In Vietnam, single-use plastics are commonly used in supermarkets to preserve the freshness of products and increase it’s shelf life while allowing consumers to see them clearly. This practice, however, contributes significantly to the country's plastic waste crisis. At DHF, we have found a solution that allows us to maintain the freshness and visibility of our products while significantly reducing plastic. Our new herb packaging is made of recyclable paper and uses only 0.9g of plastic per pack, achieving a 93% reduction in plastic compared to our old packaging. However, we’re not perfect. We still use plastic for other produce because sometimes we have no choice - it's a matter of choosing between food waste and plastic. But, we're developing new packaging solutions, and making every effort possible to reduce plastic one step at a time. In Vietnam, Don Duong is a vibrant hub for agriculture. Nestled between misty valleys and lush hills, the majority of smallholder farmers here face issues of uncertainty and fluctuating prices with mainstream crops. Oftentimes, when crops are good, the prices are undervalued, but when prices are good, there are no crops to sell. We're passionate about empowering smallholder farmers with the knowledge, proprietary seeds, and technology to thrive. By sharing best farming practices and tools, we've helped boost crop yields and increase grower incomes. Take Uyen Farm in Lam Dong Province, for example. Through our partnership, this 1.2-hectare farm went from 79% to 90% yield in just 2 months. This remarkable improvement has increased Uyen’s annual income by an additional US$1880 and saved 755kg in food waste. DHF Platforms is proud to have completed the GROW Impact Accelerator program. Our founder Huyen Tran took the stage to pitch our business, traction, and impact on smallholder farmers in Vietnam. Along with the cohort, we're working to shape a more sustainable and resilient food system!

At DHF Platforms, we firmly believe that smallholder farmers play a crucial role in shaping the future of agriculture. These dedicated individuals make significant contributions to food production and rural livelihoods. However, they encounter various challenges, including limited access to resources, technology, and markets. Our mission is to bridge this gap and partner with smallholder farms to build a more inclusive and resilient agricultural ecosystem. We recently conducted a survey involving our 16 smallholder farms to address issues related to quality and yield, which impact their profitability and the quality and reliability of our products. By implementing best practices throughout the farm supply chain, our goal is to reduce waste by 25%, enhance farmer profitability, and deliver exceptional final products. We've attached our assessment for those interested. As our next step, we'll be developing a roadmap to address these findings as we expand our business.
