Google's CEO Schmidt Giving IFA Closing Keynote Speech

IFA, the world’s largest consumer electronics show, gets started this Friday in Berlin.  Google CEO Eric Schmidt will be delivering the closing keynote speech the following Tuesday.  There are plenty of projects Google is working on that he could reveal during this talk.  Given that IFA also is a home appliances show, what better time to present Google TV?  If they’ve been working on a cross-platform arrangement for their Games division, this could be the place to demonstrate it.

But remember what’s been in the air this quarter: Android Tablet fever.  The seven inch  Samsung Tab will be presented at the IFA, along with the Toshiba Folio 100 ten inch SmartPad.  LG may be unveiling their seven inch Optimus Pad.  So, what’s brown and sweet and has 1280 x 760 resolution?

If you said Android Gingerbread, you win!  What needs 1280 x 760 resolution?  Take these Android tablets and call me in the morning!  The next expected release of Android’s OS is quite tablet-friendly with that high resolution.  There’s even a rumor that the Samsung Tab will be released running Gingerbread.  Given how few devices even have Froyo (Android OS 2.2) installed, that’s a mighty forward-looking rumor!

Maybe Schmidt has something for everyone in his address.  We’ll find out next week.
