News just in thanks to globaldirectparts.com, reseller of OEM parts for smartphones and tablets. By some freak, they’re selling replacement parts for a phone that hasn’t even been officially announced yet! A replacement LCD and digitizer assembly for the Motorola Droid 3 appeared yesterday on their site, and while it gives quite a few hints about what to expect from the new Droid, it also raises a few questions.

The first thing I noticed about this screen is that Motorola have dispensed with the bottom lip, leaving it flush which gives it a much cleaner, more finished look. It’s such a small change, but I find it makes the phone much more sexy and sleek. More exciting, perhaps, is the confirmation of a front facing camera albeit without any specs. It seems Motorola have finally settled on an arrangement of the capacitive touch buttons, choosing to preserve the lineup used on the Droid 2, though they now sit proudly under a larger 4 Inch screen. That’s about all we learned from the leak, but we’re left with something of a puzzle.

Droid 3 = “Targa” = Bionic???

There have been many rumours circulating in the last few weeks about Motorola’s upcoming Droids and their code names. The last I’d heard was the Droid 3 was codenamed “Solana” and the rumoured “Targa” device was the new Droid Bionic, replacing the one which was recently pulled. This latest update on the Global Direct Parts site, however, lists the Droid 3 and “Targa” as being one and the same. If this is true, where does that leave the new Bionic?
