Xperia Z2 Returns to "Pre-Order" Status in the UK

Sony unveiled the Xperia Z2 at MWC back in February with the promise that its latest flagship would begin shipping in April, but now we bring you news that the sim-free Xperia Z2 will actually begin shipping from the beginning of May in Europe, with pre-orders having gone live (again) in the UK, France, Spain and Poland among others. Sony have reassured its customers that previously pre-ordered devices would be delivered on time, and denied reports that there were problems in their supply chain, saying that it’s just a case of pre-order stocks selling out.

Whatever the cause of the delay was, the good news is that pre-order deals that were live when the Xperia Z2 was first launched are still active today, with early adopters being rewarded with the Sony SRS BTX300 NFC speaker when pre-ordering the Xperia Z2 for £599 from their relevant Sony pre-order page. Sony has said that it expects phone providers such as EE and Vodafone to begin deliveries in the week ahead. Not everyone is offering the same deal, where Sony is offering the previously mentioned NFC speaker for purchasing a sim-free Xperia Z2, others such as Phones4u are also giving a £50 Google Play voucher, 1 year Gourmet Society membership as well as the NFC speaker when purchasing a pay monthly contract.

It’s anyones guess as to whether the shortage has impacted on sales of the Xperia Z2, it would seem likely though that some sales were lost to Samsung’s Galaxy S5 and HTC’s One M8, after all, we are an impatient bunch when it comes to our mobile devices. Sadly there’s nothing new regarding the topic of a US launch schedule.

Did the problems with pre-ordering put you off and push you towards a different handset? If so, which one did you settle for? And finally, if you pre-ordered an Xperia Z2, have you experienced any delays in receiving the device? Let us know in the comments or via our Google Plus page.
