ZTE's Nubia X6 Mini Gets Leaked, Redefines The Term 'Mini'

It was only last month when ZTE officially revealed their latest flagship device, the Nubia X6, which served up some monster hardware; including such specs as the Snapdragon 801 processor along with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 13MP camera (both front and rear-facing) and a 6.44 inch 1080p display, taking it to the deep-end of phablet territory. Which is why it makes perfect sense that ZTE would develop a device with a smaller, more manageable footprint. Such device is called the Nubia X6 Mini which leaked on the Weibo social site earlier.

The ZTE Nubia X6 Mini is said to include most of the same specifications as it’s bigger sibling, the likely differences being a smaller battery, possibly a weaker front-facing camera and definitely a smaller display. While we are on the topic of the display, when you hear that a Mini version of a handset is being developed, what size display do you usually associate with the term ‘Mini’? 4.3-inch? Maybe even as big as 4.7 inch? According to the info, the Nubia X6 Mini will ship with a 5.2-inch 1080p screen. Not quite as mini as you would possibly expect.

On the connectivity front, the Nubia X6 Mini will support 3G, 4G and LTE networks. As usual, if you are thinking about picking on a handset that isn’t specifically for your country, you should first check that the phone supports the same bands as your service provider. It’s unknown whether the Mini will also support Dual SIMS. Finally, the Nubia X6 Mini runs Android version 4.4 and carries the ZTE’s latest custom UI, Nubia version 2.1. The lock-screen of which you can see in the main picture above.

The ZTE Nubia X6 Mini is expected to sell for around 3,299 Yuan (£314/$528). All in all, despite the misleading use of the term ‘Mini’, the Nubia X6 Mini would appear to offer good value for money, and should really be compared to other flagship devices such as the HTC One M8, Samsung’s Galaxy S5 and Sony’s Xperia Z2 rather than say the forthcoming S5 Mini. I say this before mentioning todays news that the OnePlus One will be available from just $299 (£229). Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or on our Google Plus page
