Today, Lenovo announced one of two new smartphones ahead of Mobile World Congress 2015. This is the Lenovo A7000 Smartphone. It’s a pretty cheap device, coming in at just $169 full retail, and it features a 5.5-inch HD display (that means it’s 720p). Lenovo has also continued it’s partnership with Dolby for their audio in the A7000. Dolby has been present in just about every smartphone and tablet in the past few years. So no surprise there. It’s using their Dolby Atmos Technology. Lenovo says that sounds of people, places, things and music become more vivid and move from all directions. We’ll have to try that out later on this week when we get some hands-on time. The Lenovo A7000 is running on Android 5.0 Lollipop and a MediaTek octa-core processor. It does also support 4G LTE and Dual SIM cards.
The A7000 is a very thin smartphone, coming in at just 7.9mm thin and weighs in at about 140 grams. The A7000 comes with 7GB of storage, and a microSD card slot that can expand that storage to about 32GB. It’s powered by a 2900mAh battery as well. Lenovo is launching the A7000 in two colors, Onyx Black and Pearl White. The VIBE Shot, which they also announced today, comes with Lenovo’s famous DOit apps, including SHAREit, SNAPit, CLONEit, and SYNCit.
It’s a great looking smartphone from Lenovo, that is made of polycarbonate. Which isn’t as high-end as an all-aluminum body, but this is a smartphone that is only $169 USD. So don’t expect high-end. It’s interesting to see Lenovo competing with their own company’s smartphone, the Moto G. However, the Moto G is a bit smaller, so perhaps they feel that these two smartphones serve different niches. Either way, we’ll be getting hands on with all of Lenovo’s products very soon, so make sure you keep it locked to Android Headlines for all of that info.
