Over the past few weeks, many Android OEMs are either officially releasing their Marshmallow update schedules, or having their prospective lists leaked on the internet. South Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung Electronics is one of those companies that are yet to make any official announcement regarding its Marshmallow update plans, but multiple leaks from different sources have all but revealed just about all there is to know about the company’s Android update roadmap. Of course, now that we’re coming closer to the start of the Marshmallow rollout season, there seems to be yet another leak about Samsung’s update plans for its smartphones and tablets even as the company is believed to be readying its next generation flagship handset, the Galaxy S7, for a release at the MWC 2016.

According to Vietnamese website SamsungViet, Samsung already has a Marshmallow timeline in place, whereby a number of tablets and smartphones from the company are slated to receive the taste of Marshmallow at some stage over the coming weeks and months. As per the report carried by the website, as many as thirteen smartphones and at least three tablets from the company will see the official Marshmallow ROM from the company starting from the first quarter of next year, although, no exact ETA has been given for the same. The phones that are slated to get Android 6.0 rolled out to them, include the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy Note 4 / Note 4 Duos, the Galaxy Note Edge, the Galaxy S6 edge+, the Galaxy S6 edge, the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Duos, the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy S5 Neo, the Galaxy S5 LTE-A and the Galaxy Alpha.

While all but the last-mentioned device will receive the update in the first quarter of next year itself, the tablets mentioned on the list, including devices like the Galaxy Tab A, the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 are expected to receive Android 6.0 during the second quarter of next year, although again, there’s no exact timeframe given. While previous leaks regarding Samsung’s Marshmallow plans have already indicated that most of the company’s current-generation devices will get the update pretty soon, it remains to be seen if the latest leaked list is set in cement or if the company will be flexible enough to add new devices to it in due course. Either way, with alleged leaks flying thick and fast, users will do well to exercise caution and not believe every single report that claims they have the definitive and authentic news straight from the horse’s mouth.
