Whether it’s going to be your first time hearing about the YouTube Music app today or you’ve bee following along with it since it was launched by Google, there are a few changes and improvements to note with the most recent update and following the changelog that was just put out for the app after it was updated to version 1.26, which is the most current as of this time. First, the update should be live for users in the Play Store, and if it’s not, you can either wait for the update to hit your device over-the-air, or you’ll be able to download the apk file for the latest version.
In terms of what’s new, YouTube has made it possible to access your YouTube Playlists within the YouTube Music app. As this is a standalone application for your music in YouTube, having playlists now accessible from the app should give users a nice little boost to the experience as they won’t have to travel back to the YouTube app to listen to something that may have been contained in that playlist. This should give a more seamless user experience as they can keep everything within YouTube Music and listen to something else without having to exit the app when the playlist is over. To get to playlists, all users have to do is navigate over to the “liked” music tab, and there’s even an ability to search for new playlists.
In regards to other changes within this most recent version of the app, there are a few visual adjustments of note, which include a tweak to the overflow menu that now has it launch out from the overflow button instead of anchoring to the middle of the screen. Push notifications are now just named “notifications,” and the dated visual appearance of checkboxes in the settings screen is gone as YouTube has now swapped them out for the toggle switches. YouTube has also fixed a bug that was stopping users from enabling or disabling the Offline Mixtape feature.
