The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are Samsung’s current flagship devices. Samsung opted to go down a different road with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge which were released last year, and the all-new Samsung-branded flagships are actually quite similar to last year’s offerings. That being said, the 2014 Galaxy S flagship was quite different, the Galaxy S5 was a smartphone made out of polycarbonate (plastic), and it didn’t exactly scream ‘premium’, which is why Samsung opted to start using metal and glass instead of plastic, and basically re-design the whole device.

That being said, the Galaxy S5 was not a bad device, not by a long shot, it was quite a powerful phone, and Samsung has introduced several Galaxy S5 variants. The Galaxy S5 Neo was one of those variants, and this handset was actually inferior to the Galaxy S5. The Galaxy S5 Neo launched back in August 2015, and the device has now received the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. The SM-903F is the exact model that is getting the update, and the update will change the phone’s firmware version to G903FXXU1BPD4. The SM-903F is actually an unlocked model of the Galaxy S5 Neo, and this variant has been available in parts of Europe. The update already hit Austria, Greece, UK, Germany and Netherlands, and unlocked Galaxy S5 Neo devices in other countries will get the update soon as well.

This update includes a number of Android 6.0 Marshmallow-specific features, like Doze, Google Now On Tap, and so on. As a reminder, the Galaxy S5 Neo originally launched with Android 5.1 Lollipop. As already mentioned, the Galaxy S5 Neo is inferior to the Galaxy S5, but it was still quite a compelling phone. This device features a 5.1-inch fullHD Super AMOLED display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. The device is fueled by the Exynos 7580 Octa processor, and a 2,800mAh removable battery is also included here. The phone comes with a 16-megapixel rear-facing, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera sensors. The fingerprint scanner is built into the physical home key, and the device, of course, offers 4G LTE connectivity as well.
