After months of speculation and rumors, ASUS has officially announced the ZenWatch 3, the follow up to their popular 2nd Gen. Android Wear smartwatch. While the ZenWatch models have always been looked at as some of the most stylish smartwatch options available, the ZenWatch 3 ups the ante by delivering ASUS’ first ever smartwatch that carries a completely round display and case, as the first two ZenWatch models had screens that were squared off. The ZenWatch 3 of course continues the tradition of running on Android Wear, and ASUS has stated the device will be “fully customizable” with a variety of buying options for consumers, including but not limited to different colors and straps.

All told, anyone who buys the ASUS ZenWatch 3 will be able to choose from different materials for the watch straps as well as different strap colors and different case finishes to provide each customer with a unique look that is personalized to their style. The strap materials on offer will either be a high-quality rubber or a stitched Italian leather, with color options of dark brown or beige for both materials. In addition to the actual watch build customization options, there will be 50 watch faces included with the ZenWatch 3 which wearers can swap out at their leisure using the ZenWatch Manager application that can be installed on smartphones.

When it comes the finishes that will be available for the watch cases, ASUS is offering the ZenWatch 3 in Gunmetal, silver, or Rose Gold options with all three being paired with a rose gold bezel, and the case being crafted out of jewelry-grade 316L stainless steel (cold-forged steel). The case itself measures about 9.95mm thick, and will be surrounding a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 400 x 400 that’s protected by curved 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. The case will also feature 3 brown buttons on the side. The ZenWatch 3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor which was designed to sip energy compared to the Snapdragon 400, boasting a consumption of about 25 percent less power. On top of this ASUS has fitted the ZenWatch 3 with a charging technology called HyperCharge which will allow wearers to charge up their watch with up to 60 percent battery life in just 15 minutes. The ZenWatch 3 will have various activity tracking capabilities including step tracking, push-ups, sit-ups, running and more all while delivering a tracking accuracy rate of 95 percent, and it’s IP67 certified meaning it will be water and sweat resistant. When it comes to pricing and availability ASUS has not shared any specific details at this time.
