Hulu has been rumored to be launching their live TV service next month which would put them in competition with the likes of the recently launched YouTube TV from Google, though at the rumored monthly price of the service it will cost a tiny bit more than Google’s option of $35 a month, as the service from Hulu was rumored to be $39.99. Having said that it might actually end up being launched in more areas from the start which could give them an edge over YouTube TV, which is only currently available in five cities across the U.S. and hasn’t been launched internationally.
According to the rumor which states the information comes from Hulu staff, the service will potentially launch in the first week of May. There is no concrete date that’s been mentioned for that week if it does end up launching at the allotted time, and there’s always the possibility that Hulu could push the launch out as the first week of May is said to be simply the time that they’re shooting for. Other rumors have suggested that a launch in the middle of the month could also be possible. When it comes down to it, it could be within the first week or it could be further out, and Hulu isn’t tossing out any confirmations so it looks like users who are interested in giving this a try will just have to wait until the launch to know more, unless Hulu decides to officially share details before then.
An entire catalog of what Hulu’s live TV service will offer has not been made public but Hulu has mentioned a few networks which subscribers will be able to access channels from, such as Disney, 21st Century Fox, CBS, ESPN, FOX Sports, A&E, History and more. The service is currently in a closed beta at the moment so there are some people have already gotten a taste of what the service will be like, and soon enough all consumers will have access, but having said that there is still no rumor about where Hulu plans to launch the service and it could end up having a limited launch.
