Following yesterday’s MWC 2018 launch of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, X-Doria has officially announced two new cases designed to keep either device as safe as possible. As part of X-Doria’s Defense line up, the Defense Shield and Defense Lux accomplish that through rigorous testing up to surpass MIL-STD-810G military standards. That means they should withstand drops of up to 10 feet directly onto concrete from any angle. Both case lines also feature a raised lip that extends a full millimeter, so even drops directly onto the screen shouldn’t pose too much of a risk to Samsung’s latest flagships. Perhaps best of all, the cases are priced to sell and already available to order. So nobody needs to spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about ruining their new Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus while waiting for a case to arrive.

With regard to the cases, both feature a machined aluminum exterior frame with a soft rubber bumper around the edges. The interior of each is also lined with soft rubber to help prevent scratches on the device itself. Similarly, X-Doria has integrated a sound channel into each case to amplify sound toward the front of the device – saving users from having to cup their hand to get sound directly to their ears from either devices’ AKG-tuned bottom-firing speaker. Perhaps best of all, these cases are designed to be easy to take off or put on. Whether or not that’s an exaggeration remains to be seen but the prospect is likely to be appealing to anybody who has ever tried to accomplish those tasks with almost any rugged protective case. Where the cases differ is primarily in terms of aesthetics. The X-Doria Defense Shield features a clear-coat polycarbonate backplate and is available with a Red, Black, or Iridescent frame for either of Samsung’s new flagships for just $29.99. On the other hand, the somewhat more stylized X-Doria Defense Lux comes with a Black Carbon Fiber, Black Leather, or Purple Ballistic Nylon backplate – with a purple aluminum frame for the purple option. The Lux costs $34.99 for either the Samsung Galaxy S9 or Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus.

The cases are available from either Amazon or directly from the manufacturer’s website, as of this writing. However, they are not expected to be in stock on the former website until March 2. Anybody interested in checking them out for themselves can access the new X-Doria cases via the buttons below.
