A new budget smartphone from Vivo has appeared in Geekbench’s database, showing its entry-level hardware. Named the Vivo Y71A, the device seems to be a variant of the Vivo Y71 unveiled last week in India. As per the benchmark listing, the Vivo-made smartphone will feature 4GB of RAM and come running Android 8.1 Oreo. It is powered by an unknown quad-core processor from Qualcomm clocked at 1.4GHz, as per the same source. The chip in question could be the Snapdragon 425, the same silicon that’s found inside the already announced Vivo Y71, especially given its average synthetic benchmark scores which stand at 668 points for single-core performance and 1,848 points for multi-core one.

The Chinese smartphone maker silently launched the Y71 in India last week at a price point of Rs. 10,990 ($166), with the phone having a relatively basic set of specifications, including the Snapdragon 425 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage space. The handset comes with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed and has a 13-megapixel camera on its back, along with a 5-megapixel sensor on the front. The budget-friendly Y71 weighs 150 grams and offers a 3,285mAh battery, as well as 4G LTE support. Notably, the phone has a 5.99-inch display using the new 18:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 1,440 by 720 pixels. If the Y71A is indeed a variant of this device, then it should too come with a tall screen surrounded by relatively thin bezels. The leaked phone also features an incrementally newer Android build than the original Y71.

The Vivo V71A will hence possibly be a bit more powerful than the Y71, mostly because of its increased RAM, while the internal storage can also be increased from the basic 16GB, but the Geekbench listing doesn’t give any information in this regard. Also, if the handset’s hardware is improved, its price is likely to go up as well. Vivo recently announced its mid-range V9 Youth in the South Asian country, boasting the Snapdragon 450 and running Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The phone sports a notched FHD+ display along with a rear dual-camera setup, being priced at Rs. 18,990 ($288).
