After being officially announced earlier this month, the Samsung Galaxy J4 has now been introduced in the Indian market, though without an official announcement. Mahesh Telecom, a Mumbai-based seller, shared a couple of photos of the phone’s retail box on Twitter, which is already available for purchase in the country. According to the tweet, the phone has been priced at Rs. 9,990 (~$148) for its base variant with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. The box itself doesn’t share a lot of information about the Android smartphone, except for the fact that it comes sporting a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display, a 3,000mAh battery, and the Samsung Mall app.

This report has come a week after the device’s debut in Pakistan sporting the same name and a similar set of specifications. Samsung Pakistan’s website had the device listed with all its specifications, but without revealing the local pricing. The entry-level Galaxy J-series smartphone from Samsung comes fueled by an octa-core Exynos 7570 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable memory. From the front, the budget smartphone carries a look that is generally associated with Samsung smartphones, considering its 16:9 display flanked by normal-sized bezels and the presence of a physical home button with two capacitive Android navigation keys on its either side. The phone features an AMOLED display measuring 5.5 inches with an HD resolution and comes running Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. In terms of camera, there is a 5-megapixel front-facing imaging sensor, while the rear one is a 13-megapixel affair, both of which are paired with an LED flash. A 3.5mm headphone jack continues to be a part of the package with the phone launching in Black, Gold, and Orchid Gray colors.

The South Korean company had recently announced a pair of Galaxy J-series devices – the Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J8 – priced slightly more than the Galaxy J4. The two smartphones start at Rs. 13,990 ($206) and include an Infinity Display with a distinct 18.5:9 aspect ratio and thinner bezels. Given their market positioning, both the J-series smartphones boast marginally better specifications along with a better build. At their launch last week, Samsung didn’t mention about the Galaxy J4’s arrival in the Indian market. The company may officially announce the phone in the near future but as previously said, the phone can already be purchased, at least from the Mumbai-based retailer.
