A new report by PhoneHorn reveals that the Galaxy J6 Android smartphone from Samsung will make its debut in India later this month on May 25. The report goes on to add that the mid-range phone will be announced in two variants – one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory and another with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. It is said to be priced at Rs. 13,990 ($208) and Rs. 16,490 ($245) for the 3GB and 4GB RAM variant respectively. Samsung is reportedly in talks with Paytm, a local mobile wallet service, for offering an additional cashback of Rs. 1,000 ($15) over the mentioned prices. The claims made in the report are supported by a photo showing what appears to be a marketing poster for the Galaxy J6 placed inside a store.
Besides the device name, a couple of features can be seen listed on the poster including a Super AMOLED Infinity Display, Chat Over Video, and Samsung Mall. An image of the phone can also be seen included in the advertisement sporting an Infinity Display in a taller aspect ratio with comparatively thinner bezels. Considering the South Korean giant has already started publicizing its upcoming mid-range smartphone in some Indian offline stores, given this photo is true, the official announcement could indeed be quite near. In addition to spilling the beans about the Galaxy J6, the report also reveals the availability details of three more Samsung smartphone – Galaxy J4, Galaxy A6, and Galaxy A6 Plus – for the Indian market. According to it, the Galaxy J4 will be priced below Rs. 10,000 ($148), the Galaxy A6 around Rs. 21,000 ($312), and the Galaxy A6 Plus around Rs. 26,000 ($386). In comparison, the Galaxy A8 Plus was announced in the South Asian country earlier this year with a price tag of Rs. 32,999 ($490).
Catering to the lower mid-range segment, the Galaxy J6 is expected to be the first J-series smartphone to feature an Infinity Display with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. It is rumored to be fueled by an Exynos 7870 SoC clocked at 1.59GHz paired with the aforementioned RAM and storage options. The handset is expected to ship with Android 8.0 Oreo-based Samsung Experience 9.0 out of the box with a possible inclusion of a Bixby button. It is said to include a single main camera placed along with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
