Vivo X21 is now confirmed to be launching as a Flipkart-exclusive device in India, considering an official listing of the phone went live on the retailer’s website earlier today. Except for the launch date, the page doesn’t disclose any other India-specific information about the phone, though all its specifications are already known from its initial announcement in China. The Chinese company has partnered with Flipkart to make the X21 Android smartphone available exclusively on its platform, presumably so as to cater to a younger demographic. After its debut in China, Vivo started rolling out the device to more Asian markets with, the next launch happening in India on Tuesday, May 29. The Vivo X21 is usually associated with its ‘UD’ model whose name denotes its under-display fingerprint scanner.

Earlier this month, Vivo started sending out media invites for an event scheduled for May 29 in India. The minimal invite only featured a large ‘X’ and didn’t confirm which device was to be announced on the launch date. The new listing on Flipkart’s website discloses the most prominent feature of the phone – an under-display fingerprint scanner – which points to the Vivo X21 UD. Unlike X20 Plus UD, the first Vivo handset to incorporate the new fingerprint sensor tech, the X21 UD will eventually be made available in more markets outside China. The rollout started from Singapore a couple of weeks back, with its rumored Indian price tag being Rs. 34,990 (~$520).

In China, the X21 is available with a 6.28-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a cutout at the top. A mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset powers the device, along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of flash memory. A set of two cameras is placed on the handset’s back, containing a 12-megapixel and a 5-megapixel sensor, while a 3,200mAh battery is also part of the package. This is a dual-SIM phone that’s pre-loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.0. Vivo is also offering support for Hi-Fi audio output through the provided 3.5mm headphone jack.
