It seems like ASUS was planning on including 10GB of RAM in its gaming smartphone, at least according to some info shared by Roland Quandt. Mr. Quandt said via Twitter that ASUS was planning to utilize 10GB of RAM in a new flagship (a few months back), so well assume that the phone in question is the recently-announced ROG gaming smartphone. The company was unable to do that, though, due to packaging issues, ASUS was unable to include that amount of RAM on top of the SoC, physical space was the problem it seems.

The ASUS ROG gaming smartphone was announced quite recently, actually, and the device sports 8GB of RAM, so it’s not that far away from 10GB that ASUS originally planned. In any case, the ASUS ROG phone does come with top-of-the-line specs, but in addition to that, it also sports a rather interesting design, plus some interesting features that you cannot exactly see in a regular smartphone. This phone utilizes a cooling system which is based on a vapor chamber, and it’s called “GameCool” by the company. The phone’s 6-inch fullHD+ AMOLED display has a 90Hz refresh rate, and the phone’s display is capable of covering 108-percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The phone also has programmable ultrasonic AirTriggers, while the company also introduced some accessories for the smartphone.

In addition to the display info we’ve mentioned, the ASUS ROG is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor, while it comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB / 512GB of storage. The phone ships with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, while it also sports a 4,000mAh battery on the inside. Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ fast charging is also supported by the device, while the phone sports stereo speakers. The device is made out of metal and glass, and it has 24-bit/192kHz audio. The ASUS ROG phone is not yet available for purchase, but it will in the near future, according to ASUS.
