The ASUS ZenFone 5Z was announced back in February at Mobile World Congress, and it went up for pre-orders about a week ago. Now it is finally shipping in the US, and it’s priced at just $499. In the US, only the 6GB/64GB model that comes in Blue or Silver, is going to be available. Unfortunately the 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage model will not be making its way to the US.
ASUS ZenFone 5Z is the company’s current flagship smartphone, sporting a 6.2-inch full HD+ display, that means it has an 18:9 aspect ratio – and there’s also a notch. There is also a Snapdragon 845 chipset inside, with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. ASUS is including a micro SD card slot here, so that you can expand the storage here, if you need more space. It does not support Adoptable Storage, however, so that you’ll only be able to store music, videos, photos and such on the micro SD card, and not apps and/or games. ASUS has packed the ZenFone 5Z with a 3300mAh capacity battery, that should keep the phone fully charged all day long. And if not, there is Quick Charge 3.0 support available as well. As far as cameras go, there is a 12-megapixel main sensor on the back, with an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor there. The front also has an 8-megapixel sensor for taking selfies.
ASUS is selling the ZenFone 5Z as an unlocked smartphone, and it will support GSM networks. However, it will not work with CDMA networks. So if you are on Verizon or Sprint, this smartphone is not going to work fully on the network (it will support some LTE bands, but no CDMA which means no voice network, and you would be relying completely on VoLTE which isn’t fully rolled out yet). But it will work perfectly fine on T-Mobile and AT&T as well as MVNO’s that support either of those networks. You can purchase the ASUS ZenFone 5Z from the link below.
