Detailed renders and a 360-degree video of Sony’s upcoming mid-range smartphone offering, the Sony Xperia L3, have now leaked online. This device is expected to follow on from the Xperia L2, a device the smartphone manufacturer unveiled in January 2018 and on that basis it could be January of next year before this device is announced. According to the leak, the Xperia L3 will sport a 5.7-inch HD+ display, along with an 18:9 aspect ratio, and will not feature a notch. Instead, the top bezel contains a front-facing camera, an earpiece, and additional sensors, while the bottom bezel bears the logo. The bottom of the handset includes a USB Type-C port, a microphone, and a loudspeaker, while users will find the 3.5mm headphone jack at the top of the device. A dual camera setup is located in the upper left-hand corner of the handset’s rear panel, while Sony moved the fingerprint sensor to the right side of the handset, where it joins the power button and volume rocker. The Xperia L3 will likely be made from plastic or polycarbonate, and will reportedly have a length of 153.8 millimeters, a width of 71.9 millimeters, and a thickness of 9 millimeters.
Aside from the resolution and the size of the display, there is limited information available regrading the internal specifications of the Xperia L3. However, the predecessor of the device, the Xperia L2, utilized 3GB of RAM, 32GB storage, and a quad-core MediaTek chipset. The Xperia L2 adopted a single 13-megapixel rear camera and so if this leak is correct the inclusion of dual cameras on the new model will likely be one of the most obvious changes between the two versions. Provided there are no changes to the front-facing camera, then the Xperia L3 might come loaded with an 8-megapixel sensor similar to the Xperia L2.
This Xperia L3 leak follows on from another leak that came through recently from the same source. That leak was for the Xperia XA3, which will reportedly sport a dual rear camera setup and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Snapdragon 660 chipset will likely power the Xperia XA3, and the handset is expected to include 6GB of RAM.
