Become the Heroes in MARVEL Dimension of Heroes

Ever wanted to become a superhero? MARVEL Dimension of Heroes might be able to help with that.

This new augmented reality (AR) game is a new title from the folks behind Star Wars Jedi Challenges that places you in the shoes of six famous Marvel superheroes including Black Panther, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Star-Lord, and even Thor himself.

Players can pick up MARVEL Dimension of Heroes on September 6th for $249. The package includes the Lenovo Mirage AR headset, two Universal controllers, and a single dual-function tracking beacon. The MARVEL Dimension of Heroes game is then downloaded onto your compatible smartphone, and the phone placed into the Lenovo Mirage AR headset.

As a bonus, players will also be able to download and play Star Wars Jedi Challenges for free, adding significant value to this overall package.

Just like Star Wars Jedi Challenges, MARVEL Dimension of Heroes offers multiple gameplay modes to broaden the gameplay outside of the main story mode.

That story mode looks pretty killer, too, and will offer plenty of opportunities to feel like a real superhero by utilizing those new universal controllers to perform moves just like your hero of choice.

Play through an original Marvel story in Story Mode, in which the Dread Dormammu, Lord of the Dark Dimension, launches a surprise attack on Earth with his alliance of Super-Villains, including Loki, Ronan the Accuser, Ultron Prime and the Winter Soldier. With the Earth in ruins, Doctor Strange manages to turn back time to secure a second chance to save the planet. Players assume the role of all of the game’s six playable Super Heroes to battle the interdimensional forces that threaten the world.

In addition to Story Mode, players can embark on a wave-elimination journey in Survival Mode. Here, you’ll be able to compete with other players for a high-score challenge and climb up the online leaderboards.

Plays Well With Others

Co-Op Mode is something entirely new to MARVEL Dimension of Heroes and differs significantly from the multiplayer functionality that’s in Star Wars Jedi Challenges. Instead of competing against each other, players will work together in the same room or home, so long as they’re on the same WiFi network. Each player will need their own Lenovo Mirage AR kit, but this unlocks additional story elements and a high score challenge for each player, as well.

If you’ve seen our Jedi Challenges review, you’ll know that the Lenovo Mirage AR headset is a fantastic piece of equipment and presents a realistic hologram overlaid on the real world (AR stands for augmented reality). The tracking beacon sits on the floor and helps the headset keep track of your movements within the room, giving you an actual physical space to walk around in the virtual world.

MARVEL Dimension of Heroes differs significantly in its gameplay style from Jedi Challenges for a number of reasons, but the new Universal Controllers are what really make the experience feel completely new.

Wrapping around your knuckles, these controllers offer freedom of movement not present in the single Lightsaber controller that shipped with Jedi Challenges and even work as a Lightsaber in that game, too.
